cron not running crontabs?

[opensuse] Problem setting up server with RAID

Hi, I'm trying to setup a 64-bit server with RAID. using Suse 10.1 64-bit version. I have a IDE 80GB harddrive on hda which I want to use for booting and swapping. I have 3 x 80GB SATA drives I want to use as a RAID5 unit. The problem is that I can't get the install process to boot from the hard drive. The mounting points are: IDE drive is /boot Raid drive is /<root> Where am I getting things wrong? New Motherboard, any thoughts

Hello, I have MythTV 0.19 running OpenSuSE 10.1, which is sitting on an AMD Athlon XP 1800 and an old Biostar motherboard with the VIA chipset and a HopHog PVR 500MCE. I have been bitten by the via chipset problem of have the system reboot spontaneously for sometime. I have under clocked this machine to the bare minimum and still random reboots ranging from 5 to 30 minutes of live tv, and forget live tv and record from the second tuner. nVidia NV17 [GeForce4 420 Go] not working on X11 nvidia driver

Hello! I tried to install NVidia drivers (from nvidia.com) for my GeForce4 420 Go on Toshiba Satellite S1410-303. When X is starting up and my screen is switching to another graphics mode, my linux *hangs up*. I cannot switch to text mode by CTRL+ALT+Fn and my screen is black. I installed the newest driver according to Suse HOWTO from http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html#3. After first crash I thought that I choose bad driver (too new), but in HOWTO my card wasn't on legacy cards list: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 23. xgl and soo many gnome dependencies

Hello Why does xgl have so many gnome dependencies such as gstreamer and gnome-audio, why would a window manager need these. Being as I only use KDE I would really rather not have all of these extra dependencies for gnome. Hi, Version 10.1 packs the XChat 2.6. In SuSE 9.2 was 2.4. I notice lots of differences between these two version, ex., in a dialog window, the context menu (the one obtained clicking the right button of the mouse), the CTCP commands are missing. This is a feature obtaining by compiling or can I configure it to obtains the same commands of version 2.4? LC

The 32bit userland works quite well, I've not had any unexpected errors. However; When I want to upgrade or install any software, YaST and friends seems to look at my ARCH to select which packages to install. computational glitch

Running SuSE 10.1 64-bit on an opteron system which is mostly unattended. Happened to notice that 'zmd' was running, and taking up a significant CPU percentage. I had done *nothing* to explicitly start zmd. I might have been using YaST2 at the time in question (don't remember clearly) - but I think not. My reason for posting is that an idle priority program, heavily floating-point intensive, reported a computational glitch (from which it was able to recover) just about the time 'zmd' started. I'm posting this to alert the SuSE developers to check that 'zmd' is not happening to affect the hardware involved with floating point. I think it suspicious that as 'zmd' started using up CPU cycles, that seemed to coincide with a computational glitch in another program on my system. [I have seen no other glitches with that program, before or since.] mikus
