Hello I have problem for installing Zend Studio. Entering activation code after new install

Hello, I was wondering how to get the Yast software update working again, i've installed my computer again and can't seem to get updates anymore, it's just keep saying that there are no updates available, when I configure the update it keeps connecting to suse and asking to login and enter the activation code for SUSE 10.1 Professional. It keeps accepting it but I don't get anywhere after that because it again and again keeps contacting the website. Is there a way around this, can I configure it in a configuration file perhapse? list protocols

How do you assess the value of a support list? Is it the signal-to-noise ratio? I think this list needs some benign leadership. Maybe two or three people could get together off-list and propose a code of conduct for the purpose of making this an efficient, productive mechanism for supporting SuSE users. At this point I think there are three sets of users and each set has its own objectives. They are people ... - having problems making SuSE-supplied technology work - interested in helping people make SuSE technology work - interested in making other people conform to posting protocols The third set has a point - especially in a heavy traffic list. Let's be pragmatic about this. The sets are not mutually exclusive. People who sometimes see themselves in the third set should show some leadership and develop a set of written protocols so newbies can inform themselves before they join the list. Until that happens, we can expect no improvement in the signal to noise ratio. Mike

downgrading kernel

Hello I am currently running kernel 2.6.16.21-0-13 and would like to downgrade to the original kernel that came with my install as I am having problems with my nvidia drivers not working with my games. My games will not go full screen unless I run them at the same resolution as my monitor, very weird. My wifes computer sitting right next to mine has that kernel and hers works fine. [opensuse] Setting up Dailup in Suse10.1

Got to setup in Suse10.1 a Dialup connection and I have never set one up in Suse. This computer I purchased from Fry's Electronics and it had Linspire5.0 installed so I'm sure the modem will be recognized by Suse10.1 What driver does Suse use to run the modem, I think it is Smartmodem isn't it? And what App. do I need installed on Suse to run Dialup settings? I need to get this setup before my niece wants to go back to $WindBlows. 10.1 elab p423 pcmcia bridge and a sierra aircard 860

Hey all... I've reached the point where I don't know where to go after this... Since there are so many logs I could post I'll leave then out unless they are short or if someone wants them. According to the Elan site the p423 works w/ Linux and the aircard. As the subject says, I am trying to get my Sierra aircard 860 to work on my desktop. It works on my laptop that is running the same kernel (2.6.16.13-4-default) with the same modification to drivers/serial-cs.c. So far all the searching, including Elan's site, has come up with is info on how to do it under the old system (pre-2.6.13) using cardmgr and I don't want to downgraded the kernel. The PCMCIA-PCI brige is seen by the kernel as dmesg shows: 01:0a.0 CardBus bridge: ENE Technology Inc CB1420 Cardbus Controller (rev 02) 01:0a.1 CardBus bridge: ENE Technology Inc CB1420 Cardbus Controller (rev 02) When I plug the aircard in /etc/log/messages says that a card has been inserted but it does not say it has been registered to a /dev/ttySx like it does on the laptop. When I do a dump_cis with the card in I get the info on the card, I even made sure that I added the correct memory address to /etc/pcmcia/config.opts. I've aliased the long pci:string to serial_cs and it seems to load the correct modules. /sys/class/pcmcia_socket/pcmcia_socket0/1 contains the info for the card. /etc/udev/rules.d contains 50-pcmcia.rules from the laptop and 10-local which contains: NAME="pcmcia/aircard_860" SYMLINK="modem" MODE="0666" SUBSYSTEM=="pcmcia_socket" SYSFS{prod_id2}=="AC860" which is also from the laptop... Any ideas would be deeply appreciated ---

Keyboard Layout

Hi guys, something that has been bugging me for a while but just got worse... I am running SUSE 10.1 x86_64, KDE 3.5.4a (problem was the same under 10.0 for the Cherry keyboard) running on an Asus A8V mainboard, Athlon 64 3500+ and PS/2 Cherry keyboard and Apple keyboard plugged into USB - only one keyboard connected at a time! ;-) I used to have a Cherry Cymotion Master Express, the main keys worked. The Windows key never worked, the multimedia keys and the special keys didn't work either - and that was after choosing the approriate Cymotion Master keyboard under YaST->Hardware->Tastatur and the language settings in KDE... I've now switched to an Apple USB keyboard, the new white keys on transparent base model. I find it very comfortable, but again, some of the keys don't work. I've selected the relevant keyboard in YaST and KDE again, I can't see anywhere else to select the keyboard type. The following keys don't seem to work (German layout) Decimal key on the numeric keypad - acts as delete when the num lock is active, acts as decimal when num lock is disabled. (i.e. it is reversed from what it should be) Right Apple Key - recognised as Alt Key Left Alt Key - not recognised Left Apple Key - recognised as Alt Key Some of the special symbols seem to be in wierd places compared to a normal layout, but that isn't a real problem, I can get used to those with time... But how the heck do I get the keys working, especially the decimal on the numeric keypad? I would also like to be able to use the Apple/Windows key as a modifier, but on both keyboards, the key isn't recognised. Pressing the special media keys and special editing keys on the Cherry when selecting shortcuts doesn't do anything - i.e. it is acting as if the key isn't pressed, or that it isn't returning a scan code... Funnily enough, the volume +/- keys work fine on the Mac keyboard, but not on the Cherry, the Mute key on both switches between Stumm and Hörbar (big grey slab with blue writing appears in the middle of the screen), although this has absolutely no effect on the volume! Am I missing something simple here? Or are the keyboard layouts bugged? As the main keys have worked on the Cherry, I never worried about the extra keys, but now that the Decimal key is messed up, I am getting a little frustrated. -- David Wright Wright Information Services Europa "I got to go figure," the tenant said. Firefox 1.5.0.6 Tabs Problem

OS: SuSE 10.0 Pro Since upgrading FireFox yesterday I have been able to access any tab other than the currently open tab, i.e. it acts as if previous tabs are locked. If I close the current tab, then the immediately preceding tab is useable again. Is there a setting somewhere or is this a known problem? Is there a workaround (other than use Opera). Apt repositry list

Hi guys, Do you know of a good list of apt repositries for SUSE 10.1? The only two I know of are in Germany, and for some reason connections to Germany is dog slow, but to the UK and the USA is quite fast. Thanks Hans
