Hi List; Yesterday pulled down the remastered 10.1 DVD ISO and installed 10.1 on a laptop I have to see if Its ready for me to upgrade. The install went fine however I am somewhat confused by the new zen updater instead of my SuSE Watcher. I have a few questions: - Does the zen updater pull only patches & fixes like the SuSE Watcher did ? If not where do I now get these types of updates? - What's the best way to update my system, does the zen updater do it all ? or is there a better/easier to manage method? - Both zen updater and Yast Sources only list my DVD drive. Where can I find a list of 10.2 repositories for both the zen updater and yast ? Do they both accept the same repos? I guess the short question is - how do I keep my system up to date and where can I find step by step (im kinda slow) documentation on how to configure my new 10.1 box for updates? The mail problem suddenly got worse here. I have received only one post since about 8:52 P.M. (North Carolina, USA). That one was from Basil Chupin, Subject: Re: [SLE] New problem, at 7:43 A.M. Mondays have been the day of normal volume, until today. -- ED --

That's why trying to ape Windoze is often not such a good idea, yes the splash screens are pretty but when fsck kicks in the scenario becomes different, even Windoze says that there was a problem and shows it's checking system in all it's character glory. I found someone locked in the "nothing happening/power switch" circle. He'd installed the system with a multisync screen and now the lower quality screen that was connected was turning itself off because it couldn't handle the resolution. -- Dave Cotton <dcotton(a)linuxautrement.com>

Looking up a MS network host

My linux boxes are attached to a MS based localnet, TCOB1. the ms box can look up my linux boxes (bsod, killtulla) but neither of the suse boxes can find the ips for the MS boxes. All are dchp on 192.168.1. basis. Is there anyway I can get my suse boxes to find the ms boxes or do I have to run some dns server on the MS box to do it Sean -- I believe that every human has a finite number of heartbeats. deleting multiple rpm packages using the command line

Hello all: I've installed openoffice 2.0.4 from the openoffice site. Now I have several packages called openoffice.org-xxxxx-2.0.4- 5. How could I remove all these packages using "rpm -e" on the command line in one command? I don't want to run "rpm -e" individually for every package. [opensuse] Can't configure Speedtouch 330

Hello i´ve downloaded the beta 1 of opensuse 10.2 64 Bits version, i have an Thompson speedtouch 330 USB modem and i can't make it work. First Option: i found this page: http://support.novell.com/techcenter/sdb/en/2002/05/configSpeedTouch.html It explains how to set up the modem but in the 4 step the "make" command say something like the version of one of the files is for 32 Bits and i have 64 Bits operating system. :-( ¿how to fix this? Second Option: I've tryed with the tutorial from this site: http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/suse/index.html who works fine in my old mandriva 2006. I do all steps with no problem but when rebooting there's a pair of messages: "Module pppoatm not found" "Module br2684 not found" And the ppp package IS installed in my HD Some one has solved this? Garbled page in mythweb

I have finally gotten past the mythweb .htaccess stuff and the page that loaded was just a bunch of unprintable characters and such, little black diamond shapes with white question marks inside of them. On a default install of apache2 on opensuse 10.1 I had to enable a lot of things in order to get past the .htaccess stuff. So now I am lost. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
