This issue also applied to earlier versions of SUSE than 10.1 for me. If I click on K-Menu -> Logout -> Turn Off Computer the screen fades to gray. However, about half the time or more the computer never shuts down. Sometimes if I do it a second or third time I will succeed. However, if I right click on a blank area of the desktop and click on Logoff [logname] and then TurnOff computer it always shuts down. This happens on both my desktop and laptop so it isn't hardware specific. I wonder if SUSE is aware of this issue? Cheers, Bob

Where's MDSUM for SuSE-10.1-GM ?

Hi All, I'm looking for MDSUM of original suse-10.1-GM, cause i want to be sure that my downloaded suse 10.1-gm from torrent are valid. So i cant apply delta-iso-Remasterd for them. I've cheked in opensuse's ftp, but the MDSUM contain "Remastered" which i assume it's not the original one. Do a google search sometime for the NMEA owners site and try to swallow the load of tripe they are feeding everyone. The NMEA codes are "protected" even though everyone (gps, autopilots, plotters, etc) need to use them. But, we must pay the NMEA hundreds of dollars for a "copy" of their protected codes... even though they are freely available on the NET from various sources.... The NMEA maintains that the NET versions are poor and out of date... and that is also a load of tripe. Presumeably (I'm never going to ask them for it) their codes come in some form of protected PDF document that will not print... can not be copied... explodes after being read once... etc.... [opensuse] A good reson to request opensource graphic drivers

Hey, as Rapid7 releases a security advisor, we all can see how important it would be to get some good opensource drivers including 3D support for grpahic chips. The binary driver from nVidia is thus vulnurable to a root exploit, which in fact was known to nVidia for about 2 years already. The latest version (1.0-8774) are still affected. [opensuse] SPAM: Synchronizing Kontact w/Nokia 6280?

Does anybody have have any information about this topic? I'd like to use bluetooth, but really, any way to synchronize calender and contact information would do. sdptool browse tells me that the Nokia amongst other things has SyncML capability. But I haven't succeeded in getting it to work, and the synchronization module in Kontact doesn't seem to understand SyncML. It doesn't help that I really don't know how SyncML is supposed to work. am I supposed to set up a network link through Obex, or how is the connection going to work? Hi, I just began to use SUSE linux 10.1 on thinkpad G40. I want use BibTex tool. Actually I want to use Pybliographer. http://pybliographer.org/ Does anyone use Pybliographer or is there RPM package on SUSE linux 10.1? I'll be glad to hear any informations. [opensuse] SLES 10 x86 gpg key verification with Open Suse 10.1 packages

Hello, i have sles-10-x86 installed and some of the packages which i really needed is not included with SLES-10 , so i installed MozillaThunderbird from Suse 10.1 repos as well as few more packages like xchat , amarok and 3rd party vlc packages but every time sles-10 ask me for gpg key verification with long list of finger prints for accepting during installation , i want to know while accepting this keys and finger prints will my sles-10 package integrity will be harm ? Can i install other 10.1 packages in sles -10 ? SPAM: SuSE 10.1 + VMware /dev/rtc problem + ASUS P5GD2 Premium Audio

Hi all, When I run VMware Workstation 5.5.2 build-29772, and boot an image with a Linux 2.6.x kernel on it, VMware issues a error message that says it cannot open /dev/rtc (Device or resource busy) and these lines ge to /var/log/messages: rsantos kernel: /dev/vmmon[6733]: host clock rate change request 19 -> 1001 rsantos kernel: /dev/vmmon[6733]: /dev/rtc open failed: -16 After trying to find out what application was using /dev/rtc I found out that if switch off asla ( rcalsasound stop ), all goes well. Has anyone had any experience with this Hardware/Software ? Has anyone got the same error on SuSE10.1 with Asus P5GD2 Premium audio enabled ?
