How to uninstall using YAST2

I installed something on my Suse 9.1 linux and it changed the password to the mysql and now I can't get in anymore. I have found no way to get in to change it, so I thought I would uninstall and then reinstall to get controll back. Yast says under software that it can be used to install and uninstall. I was not able to find the way to uninstall using YAST. Does anyone know how to do so or how to get into mysql again? TIA Bob

Persistent DSL

I know this has been discussed before, but most of the posts I could find just rave about having the dsl router doing the connection and making the external interface on the linux box just another eth interface. Unfortunately I'm dealing with a modem that is just a modem, not a router. We usually have a separate IP-COP box to handle this. IP-COP is very good at detecting when the PPPOE connection drops, and redials immediately. I've just set up SUSE 9.3 as a firewall, set up the DSL as PPPOE in Yast, selected "at boot" mode. Fine and dandy, as soon as I restarted networking, the dsl0 device came up, had a bogus IP for a few seconds, and then got the connection to the ISP. BUT, to test, I unplugged the phone line, plugged back in. That's 10 minutes ago, still no connectivity. How do I setup SUSE 9.3 to redial as soon as the connection goes down? Thanks Hans

Hi, everyone. Sorry for long post, but I need help and can't express myself in fewer words. :o) I just bought a wonderful new video card for my wife's 'pooter, installed it, and it screams very loudly when power is turned on. Fans also do not rotate. I called manufactuer and they ran me through a few BIOS tests and determined that the voltage at the AGP slot is too high. V-Core Voltage = 1.76 volts and they said it can't be above 1.6v. I also swapped out the 600W powersupply and that made no difference. Put the card into another pooter with a much smaller powersupply (300W) and it did not scream. So... looks as if the MB in her 'pooter is dying. Anyway.... I am thinking of replacing the ASUS board with a Tyan since that seems to get good recommendations. Can you folks recommend a specific model Tyan? I am NOT technically inclined, so I really need guidance. Wife would like to investigate the possibilities of an AMD 64 processor so please consider that as part of the recommendation. She currently has an AMD 32 (1.7+ which I think is equivalent to 1.4 Ghz). Also, wife wants to know if it's possible later to pull the AMD 64 and replace it with a dual core AMD processor. Basically she doesn't want to have to replace the MB again for awhile. Alternatively she is thinking about 4X32 AMD processors. Is that insane or is that within the realm of rational thought? She realizes that there is not much in the way of 64 bit software at the moment so we're trying to plan for the future. We'd like to get the most bang for the dollar yet we can't be extravagant. Still, we also don't want something temporary. Your help with as much specific information will really help my shopping for the best price. Thanks, everyone. :o) Gil

Has anyone been able to use the SUSE rpm's located at the SuSE site to update this? It tells me it needs libieee1284 but I cannot find it under the 9.1 RPMs. It also says I can remove Scribus, sane etc since they use this lib. Any help will be greatly appriciated. I cannot remove the appls it says to. -- Russ

That quote from the article does not indicate what kind of SuSE will be packed in a box. The article implies much turmoil for the naming, branding, versions, and distribution of SuSE. It APPEARS that the online community version will be what SuSE Pro is now. The names of other SuSE products will probably change. The other high-end versions of SuSE will continue to be boxed. The article does not accurately describe what will be packed in the consumer version of the box.

amaroK and KDE 3.4

Hello list, I recently upgraded KDE to 3.4 from 3.3 through some clever tricks I found on this list. Sad thing is, now amaroK has stopped working, (it looks like a new version too). I can hear normal system sounds fine. mp3's play nicely in VLC also. I guess I just have grown fond of amaroK. Anyone with any ideas of where to start the troubleshooting? regards, Mikael

Channel Bonding and YAST

Hello everybody Is it possible to configure a "Channel Bonding" network interface with YAST instead of doing it manually by editing config files ? Any help would be appreciated. I couldn't agree with you more. I was using RedHat 8 & 9. I had even paid for the $60 Subscription service for each. Then out of the blue I get the email saying they were not going to offer it anymore. I was so mad. Luckily I foud SuSe and have been very happy. I they no longer offer SuSe Pro in a box.
