Trouble with Suse9.3's reiser4

Where is the current site with the Suse9.3 test kernels? I'm looking for a more recent version of reiser4. That would include an updated reiser4 kernel module and reiser4progs. Who is the current kernel packer? kotd? I can't get the stock reiser4 in Suse9.3 Pro to work. The problem is completely repeatable, happens every time. Unmount a happy reiserfs3.6 data partition. Re-format it as reiser4. Re-mount it. Copy something BIG into it. As soon as it sees a file >2 Gig, the copy process hangs. Once the copy is hung anything that reads that partition hangs too. The system is a Dell 1655MC blade server. It's a fully patched Suse9.3 pro machine. This is what always happens, I think it relates to the files being bigger than 2 Gig. But on ftp.uni-erlangen.de its ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/mirrors/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS-beta2/inst-source/CD1/ Is anything going wrong there? CloneBoot rears its many heads again

Dear SuSE enthusiasts, Is anyone interested in using Cloneboot? Cloneboot is a simple set of scripts I wrote that allow a machine to partition, format, and load its local hard disk to mirror a "model machine". All this happens during the initrd phase of booting, before the local hard disk has been read. So netbooting with an un-partitioned hard disk, by the time the real local root partition is mounted all the filesystems and files necessary to complete the boot and run are in position. Cloneboot extends the "linuxrc" script to NFS mount the model machine. and then runs a series of scripts on the model machine to do the work. I use it to propagate compute nodes in my Beowulf cluster. Note that all my nodes have identical hardware, so simply duplicating the hard disk and changing the hostname is all I need to do to install another node. The beauty of a system this simple, is that I can set up my model node using all the tools from vi to YaST and then propagate it without having to make build images of create pseudo RPMs with my configuration options. Cloneboot involves having PXE netbooting infrastructure, with DHCP and atftp serving the required (stock suse) kernel but with an initrd produced by a patched mkinitrd. It also requires a model node prepared to NFS export itself (from /, read only) to the network of potential nodes. Once the booting node has mounted the model, it looks in a directory "/etc/clone/" for the scripts and info to build itself. mythTV packages

Hi All, A short while ago, (as a personal project) I hacked around with the fedora mythTV packages on atpms to create some packages that would compile into syse9.3. (I was also trying to create an easy suse9.3 myttv howto, but I've ran out of time for these things at the moment) These are currently on ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/9.3-i386/RPMS.suser-scrute When I get the chance, I'll try to do that for suse10 too, but I thought I'd stick a general email here incase there's anyone else working on any similar projects to get myth onto suse10 ........ I'm not sure if hacking the atrpms .srpms is the way to go, or if starting from scratch would be better. Still. It's one way to learn about packaging :-) (but perhaps not the best ? ) -- Simon Crute (posting personally)

Adaptec 29160 SCSI controller anyone?

Hello everyone, I want to go SCSI so I'm buying a new controller and two hard-disks. My motherboard is: ASUS TUV4X. I went to the Adaptec website and it seems the only adapter I can buy (for my motherboard) is an Ultra160 model: 29160. Is there anyone running this card on SUSE 9-10b? I see a couple of Linux drivers on the Adaptec site but they're for SUSE 7.3 and 8.2 (nothing more recent). I'll appreciate your comments/suggestions. Thanks, Jorge

Haupauge WinTV-PVR 350

The default (which I set to kde in >/etc/sysconfig/windowmanager) still comes up fvwm. >It may be simpler to reinstall! Reinstalling may be a little draconian. How about uninstalling KDE and then reinstall, via yast, and reboot. ~James

Hi all, currently I am making my progress on building Webmin and Usermin packages according to the SUSE Build HowTo. The work is still in progress but I wonder if openSUSE will add user contributions to the distribution and if how to tell SUSE about this? Where can I ask questions? suse-linux(a)suse.com or suse-linux-e(a)suse.com? My openSUSE-page for Webmin - http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/User:Macmewes/Webmin - currently is the only place where I can announce stuff but I do not want to spam this list - sorry for this one here ;-) Would it be possible to install something like opensuse-projects(a)suse.com or opensuse-contributions(a)suse.com or maybe opensuse-contrib-announce(a)suse.com ? Maybe I am blind, but what is the correct way to get in contact with SUSE to tell them that I want to maintain this package.
