Puzzling gtk2 issue

I've been compiling sylpheed-claws from CVS for several weeks on my SUSE 9.3 box with no issues. For the past week, it has failed to compile and gives the following error: <snip> checking for library containing encrypt... -lcrypt checking for pkg-config... (cached) /usr/bin/pkg-config checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.4.0... no *** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why... *** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the *** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed. configure: error: Test for GTK failed. See the file 'INSTALL' for help. I've done some upgrades via apt over the past month, so something may have happened there, but I've not been able to trace the cause of the issue. I don't THINK I'm using SUSPEND2RAM. I never set it up. What happens is when the system idles for a while (I'm not sure how long) or if I close the lid, when I re-open it, the top 5% of the screen has a bunch of garbage in it. This offsets the entire desktop down about an inch. However, the mouse can go up in this "garbage" area of the screen. If I hit Fn+F7 (vga/lcd screen output), it resets the screen after going to vga-out, then back to lcd output. Then I'm back in business. uname -r different from usr/src/linux link

Hi, Can anyone tell me how this might have happened? - see listing below and note that uname -r returns one version of linux and /usr/src/linux is linked to a different version. I only noticed this after I tried to: make clean ; make linux26 for zaptel which is part of asterisk. Note that the SuSE 9.3 is a recent full install and that I regularly run YOU in automated mode circa 3am in the morning - ie: I don't necessarily reboot the machine after running automated YOU. After noticing this I *did* reboot but this has not solved the issue. HOWTO Fax from OOo

I installed hylafax from the 9.1 cd's I setup a new printer in OOo print administration. I try to print to fax and I am prompted for the fax number. Then nothing. All I need to do is send faxes. Suse 9.3 or kde problem with closing lid on IBM Thinkpads

I just installed 9.3 and it's great, but I have a Thinkpad X40 which has a problem with the screen. If I close the lid and then open it again, I get about 5% of garbage on the top of the screen. It then offsets the mouse location so I have to click about 5% higher than the actual button. Anyone know how to fix this? I've been running sax2 and just testing the config to reset the screen, but I'd like to not have to do this. SuSE9.3 ftp install?

Maybe a really dumb question... is it actually released now? I noticed a huge number of files appear on the ftp site in the last couple days... I've also found this... ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.3/iso/ which has a DVD eval iso, and a 5 disk CD set. Is the CD set the full iso's of the 9.3 release? There's no handy dandy readme laying about to make it clear what's up with those files. C.

The problem is that i cant run this authentication under squid....
