executing a console program from a kde icon

I wrote a short script to log in as root and run the crypto script to mount a an encrypted partition. Now I want to execute this by clicking on an icon, but the kde doc that describe running non-kde programs does not address this. could someone please direct me. --- John Sowden American Sentry Systems. Remastering SuSE DVD with jigdo.

Hello, For those users with problems to burn/copy/read the SuSE shipped double layered DVD, we've finally found a fully functional solution using jigdo. You can read about the process in this wiki page http://www.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Remastering_dvd_with_jigdo When finished, you'll have two single layered DVD iso files that will allow you a complete SuSE 9.3 instalation. Note that you have to use the shipped DVD or its iso image file. In other case jigdo can't help you. kernel 2.6.x and temperature too high: rdo I have to recompile it?

Dear all, I have been using suse 9.1 (kernel linux-2.6.5-7.151 with standard config from the installation) for a while on my desk bi-cpu p4 with nvidia card. As long as I don't use the pc for theoretical calculation everything seems okay except IMHO an excessive fan speed, but when I start to use the cpu for calculation I got this message from the kernel: CPU#0: Temperature above threshold CPU#1: Temperature above threshold and a "beep-beep" sound from the case. I checked in /proc/acpi/thermal_zone but the dir is empty. lsmod gives: button 10384 0 battery 12804 0 ac 8964 0 fan 8196 0 thermal 16648 0 processor 21568 1 thermal p4_clockmod 9988 0 freq_table 8832 1 p4_clockmod i2c_i801 13200 0 i2c_dev 14976 0 i2c_sensor 7168 0 i2c_core 28932 3 i2c_i801,i2c_dev,i2c_sensor Looking at the config.default I saw that there are some misconfingurations (i.e. i586 rather than p4) so I am wondering if it is worthwhile to recompile the kernel (i.e. the new one 2.6.11.10 vanilla) or I can fix it downloading some patch. The upgrade is okay. Could anyone help me to fix this problem? Thanx L

FWIW as an on topic reply, NSS isn't available as a free add-on as far as I'm aware, and there are benefits for both Reiserfs and NSS depending on circumstances. NSS does run on SuSE as part of Novell's Nterprise Linux Services. This could be beneficial for specific Novell services as it will support extended attributes that Reiserfs doesn't, and be happily managed via iManager. Usb-stick problem again

Sorry to insist, but I still haven't solved my problem, and I don't seem to be the only one experiencing thios: I'm resending this, as I got no answers: I've just installed 9.3 on my wife's laptop. With 9.2, when she inserted her usb-stick, it was mounted automatically and a konqueror window opened and showed the contents. It doesn't any more. I've added /dev/sda1 vfat /media/usbkey -noauto to fstab, and now inserting the key opens a konqueror window, but the key is not mounted. I have to do it manually from konsole. How to link two subnetworks

Hi i have two subnetworks 192.168.1.x and 192.168.2.x. connected to a server router with 3 network cards. 1connect outside 2 for the subnetworks. How can i get one subnet work to talk to the other.. Both subnetwork can ping the router but computer in the subnetwork can not ping the other computer on the other subnetwork.. This may be a firewall issue, but I really don't know. I used to be able to fetch Mozilla nightly builds with the following command. It hasn't worked for a long time. You can see what is happening. Does anybody know what's up with this? Adaptec Serial ATA Raid 1210SA card

Hi All, I'm running out of disk space and wondered whether to add SATA disks rather than EIDE. This card: Adaptec Serial ATA RAID 1210SA is on offer reasonably cheaply. The hardware compatibility database describes its state of support as 'unknown', though Adaptec asserts that it works with SuSE. Anyone using it? Can you use it for the boot disk? How to unsubscribe?

HI, I tried unsubscribig from this list as per directions given on SUSE site. This is the mail header I get in all mails from the list list-unsubscribe: <mailto:suse-linux-e-unsubscribe-kvelhal=gmail.com@suse.com> I tried sending mails to this address and also to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe(a)suse.com. Tried with empty mails, mails with Unsubscribe keyword in Subject/Body I have been doing this exercise over last week but not successful till now. I want to unsubscribe from 3-4 SUSE mailing lists for some time. can anybody tell me how to unsubscribe from the SUSE lists -Kshitij
