Hardware Problem - 9.2 PRO first Installation ...

Hi, im new to Linux and have decided to start with SuSe 9.2 PRO. Now i have a SuSe Linux working 90% (to start with), just need some help with two hardware issues [SCANNER & WiFi adapter]. 1.- I have a HP ScanJet 3770 USB scanner that YAST doesnt recognise. Is there a way to set it up? I tried Generic HP ScanJet but it doesnt work. 2.- I have 3CRDAG675 PCI WiFi network adapter that YAST recognises. I set it up without encryption and it works ok, but when i try to set it up as it should be, with encryption, things dont work. The info as shown in the AP is: SSID: cmp1 Channel: 6 SSID Broadcast: Disabled Security Mode: WEP WEP Encryption: 64 bits 10 hex digit Default transmit key: 1 Passphease: notthisone key 1: B02C84841C AP MAC: 00:00:00:00:00:00 (not real) whats the correct way to set it up using encryption? Is there a way to force a connect to a different AP (cmd2...)? 3.-When SuSe starts i see a black screen showing lots of infos and a green DONE beside it, but there is a RED failed that scrolls too qickly and i just cant read it. Is there a log where i can check whats going on? I hope someone can help me or at least point me to a correct place where i can get more info. Thanks in advance.

Search in the list, there were links to articles, as well as what settings have to be changed in order to burn as normal user. Cheers Sunny

Touchpad Issues in 9.3

I have an Acer Aspire 1522LMi. I have been trying various 32/64 bit installs with 9.2/9.3 as I learn what works and what doesn't. I've settled on a 9.3 32 bit install which will let me set up the internal winmodem and wifi interfaces. One issue has been the Touchpad mouse under 9.3. I get a hesitation that sometimes requires that I wait a moment before trying to move the pointer. The message log file shows the following: linux kernel: psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input 0 lost sync at byte 1 linux kernel: psmouxe.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input 0 lost sync at byte 1 linux kernel: psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input 0 lost sync at byte 4 linux kernel: psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input 0 - driver resynched Occasionally you will also see: linux kernel: psmouse.c: issuing reconnect request I went into SAX2 and changed from the Synaptics Touchpad setup to Explorer/PS2 and rebooted. Still got the same messages. I also tried turning off the wheelmouse and setting it to 3 button emulation, but this didn't make a difference either. Does anyone have ideas on this one? Barry

Hi. I'm going to replace a SuSEFirewall on CD 2 with a SuSE Professional we plan to use fwbuilder to mantain the firewall, but we want to use the actual iptable rules. it's possible to get the iptables-save result and convert to a valid fwbuilder file? many thanks -- Un Saludo. user login memory

I can't find the setting anywhere, and I want to turn off the memory setting for logins in KDE. After Sax, kde dissappear and minimalistis gui appear

Hello, After executing sax to adjust some video parameters (enable 3d, delete second monitor) on my Matrox G400, and rebooting linux, Kde had disappeared, instead it presents a minimalistic gui. As I had a backup of the original xorg.conf, I replace the file generated by Sax with this one, but ... nothing happen, the same gui appear, not kde. May any one help me? Thanks, Hugo.

APT Time out

Hi all, I am still having problems with apt timing out when trying to connect. I'm using Suse 8.2 Pro (from the box) and in other Suse installations I have no trouble, so I'm guessing it must be something particular to this PC?? Cannot figure out what, though. The only thing that googles gives me about it is my previous post here :) I have used several repositories, but in all I get the same result: aeolia:/home/sergio # apt-get update Err ftp://mirrors.mathematik.uni-bielef... Disable Hotplug For Individual Device

Is it possible to configure usb hotplug to ignore an individual device? I need to access a specific usb device from W2K as a guest in VMWare WS5, but 9.3 holds the device and I don't know how to release it. Why the device is grabbed in the first place I don't know, because there are and never will be (unless I write them) any Linux drivers for this device. I have Googled, checked the VMWare KB and RTFM's, but I can't find anything that gives me anything to get started with. Any pointers or suggestions would be much appreciated. TIA Dave

Foo Billiards broke.

I just discovered Foo Billiards (/usr/bin/foobillard) is broke. I haven't had time to play it in the past few weeks and now I'm crushed. I have done a couple of yast online updates, but can't say what could be causing the problem. It does not APPEAR to be directly related to 3D. glxgears and GL-117 run as expected with high frame rates, so I believe the nvidia card and v 7167 driver is working properly.
