Greetings friends, Just a question related to sound cards, I have a Quanta zw9 laptop, which is absolutely brilliant with Linux of course better with suse than any other flavour. The onboard sound run in win XP has the ability to use the three audio jacks as the following: the Mic (pink) as Sub woofer out the line (blue) and rear out the Audio (green) as front audio How can I get this setup to work in Suse? Epson printer utility

Hey gang, I used to know a smal but nice utility for epson printers. It would give the ink level and clean the jets and stuff like that, but can't remember what it was called. Anyone know what one I'm trying to remember? I'd sure appreciate it. John

kamil error log?

I changed something in one of my accounts, and now I get a "can't connect to localhost" error message. gtktalog help

I run KDE only and whilst running gtktalog (from SuSE 9.2 dvd) I would like to read the manual by clicking "Help", but all I get is: "ghelp:///opt/gnome/share/gnome/help/gtktalog/C/book1.html" is not a valid location. The link /opt/gnome* is valid so why the message? Any clues anyone? Geoff

winbind dead

Hi All, winbind was working fine and now all of a suden when i start it i get: Starting Samba WINBIND daemon - Warning: /var/run/samba/winbindd.pid exists. when i check the status i get: it says winbind is dead. Why did this happen now all of a sudden and how do i fix it? Using OpenSwan with SuSE Linux 9.2 and Netgear FVM318 DSL router

I've tried setting up a local VPN between my SuSE server and the above Netgear unit. Currently, both units reside on a common 10.0.0.0 series network but each has a separate 192.168.x.0 network behind it and I want to get these 192.168 networks talking. Firstly, does anyone already have experience of this combination? Secondly, can anyone help me solve a '021 no connection named "vpn-link"' error when I try and configure the OpenSwan side of the tunnel? Ipsec.conf contains the line 'conn vpn-link' but tihs does not seem to be recognised. TIA John

Backup using Amanda

Hi! Can anybody help me? I want to use a backup server to keep in safe my /home directory and I will use the Amanda software and a tape server, but I a little confused. There any body there that already used Amanda? I have already look for some info on the internet but my problems are until unsolved... Thanks Adilson

Can't open KMail

Hi all, I ran a series of security updates (those in red) in update software through Control Center/YaSTe modules/Software/OnLine updates. I cannot remember all the updates but one was a KDE update. KMail will not open. Other KDE apps like Konqueror work fine. I am using Evolution to type this. I run SuSE Pro 9.2 Thanks in advance for any help. I am very much a newbie, so if you would, please give detailed instructions rather than think I know what you are suggesting. Many thanks, Andy

lost Umax 1220S scanner 9.2 install

I looked but can't find the information to install my Umax 1220S. It worked OK until I did a fresh install to 9.2 and can't get it to find anything related to the scsi. There is no /dev/sg0 or and other /sg In yast it says there is no configurable controller found, likewise yast finds no scanner. It appears yast will not install the needed drivers so I need directions on how to manually install the driver. In previous versions it used the g-NCR5380 driver /dev/sg0 thanks in advance jeo
