I have set the system to init 3 and then run yast in text mode but as soon as I run the section install/remove software, it just hangs with the message initializing. Suse 9.2 print problem

Dear list members: Recently I have installed Suse 9.2. I have a HP laserjet 1015 that I could configure via YAST2/printer section. The print test produced a perfect printout. However if I try to print from any application (Openoffice writer, Konqueror browser) it prints only characters - 1 or 2 lines per page. Thes start of the lines is something like Postscript version 3.0 etc. I have CUPS print server installed. Please help me how I should configure the printer for working well. Thanks, IG

Lost Interupt?

I think the Linux partition (hda3) on my SuSE 9.0 box has been corrupted as the result of a power failure and now I can't fire up Linux. Grub starts W2K (hda1) without any problem, but the SuSE startup goes into a continuous loop with the message "Interupt lost hda". I have tried the repair option with the SuSE 9.0 DVD, which detects an error, but is unable to repair. Can anyone offer any pointers or suggestions (other than reinstall) on how I might go about fixing this. Thanks in advance. Dave

network troubles

My network connectivity seem to be bad lately, during a download of mail is just stops working, web pages just stop of fail to load. Some days I can ping a site but not load the web page, the problem usually clears up after a few hours on it's own. I recently noticed that the sockets seem to be swapped out. Segmantation Faults

Hi, running SuSEv9.2 with XFce4 4.2 here Could someone please explain to me how I go about tracking down the cause of Segmentation Faults that have started appearing in my web browsers? I usually use MozillaFirefox v1.0. I updated the video player "vlc" and all associated dependencies fro the Packman site using Synaptic. Everything went without error. Part of this update was the installation of the vlc mozillaplugin which I did not have before. I soft linked the plugin file to /usr/lib/browser-plugins as usual for mozilla updates. Now, I get nothing but Segmentation Fault when I try to run Firefox, Mozilla itself or Opera?! Konqueror is the only browser still kicking (and I do not like it). I will remove the plugin and its links to see if that is what caused this - I presume it is as it is the only web-related change I have made and they all worked yesterday? More generally though, especially if removing the plugin does not fix it, how does one go about tracking down the cause of a Segmentation Fault? Paul.
