duplicated hylafax documentation.

Hi, I just found that most of the Hylafax documentation files are duplicated. They are under: /srv/www/htdocs/hylafax and also under /usr/share/doc/packages/hylafax/html most of the files are the same; the date is different, but they are the same internally, with some exceptions. How come? It's about a megabyte. Certainly not much nowdays, but still... This is SuSE 9.1 -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

CD-ROM Drive ejects on it's own accord!

Dear Sir/Madam I have Linux Professional 9.2 and the some reason the CD-ROM drive ejects automatically to no reasons asking for a CD. Excellent place to put my coffee cup. I have the drive as a Primary Master on IDE0 where as my hard drives are Secondary Master and Slave. I installed 9.0 and do not have this problem. Installed 9.2 twice and also run all yast's update. Can anyone shred any light on this bizarre behaviour. If I put a CD in the drive, Linux will eject the disk after say 70 secs. Kind Regards Rob

This is certainly true in the MASQ section, so I believe you should only need to add another rule for port 5901, identical to the one for port 5801. This is what you said didn't work for you, but are you sure you put both rules into the same line, and separated them by a space? FW_FORWARD_MASQ="0.0.0.0/0,internal_ip,tcp,5801:5802,5801:5802,external_ip \ 0.0.0.0/0,internal_ip,tcp,5901:5902,5901:5902,external_ip" I put that as 2 lines with a continuation, so line-wrapping would not obscure where the space should be; in your firewall config file (and in YaST where you enter it), it should be just one line, without the backslash of course -- maybe the system would accept the continuation, but I am not sure, so best not to try it. Also, from my limited understanding of how VNC works, I think you could make that just one rule, using a port range 5801:5999. That would allow 99 simultaneous VNC sessions on the same vcn server -- but configuring your server for that is up to you :-) The alternative, if that does not work, is to start carving some custom rules <shudder> which I think would require a very detailed understanding of how the script works -- that is not something I can claim. I still think the value in /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_fin_timeout on the firewall might be a problem for you. PS, please reply only to the list; my mail filters will just put the cc copy to me into the same folder as the copy sent to the list.

VNC

I'm running SLES 9. I'd like to use VNC to access the server remotely, and currently it is working, but there are some issues. I would like it set up so that when I go to access the server via VNC, it asks for a VNC password. Currently, if I type "servername:5901" in the VNC server name box, I am taken directly to a SuSe log in screen. I am never prompted for a password from VNC to get that screen. I have tried using vncpasswd to set a password, but when I launch VNC remotely, it never prompts me for the password I entered. I have rebooted thinking X might need to be restarted. I would also like to set the SuSe login screen to NOT display users on the left of the login box. How can I disable this? Thanks.

Can' t locate module char-major-6

Hi! I am tryng to install SLES 8 on my machine but the the install program freezes. I use Crtl+F4 and I see the error: "Can't locate module char-module-6" . I have already tried to install with safe setings and in text mode but it wosen't work. Anybody can help me? Thaks Adilson
