Hi guys, There are a number of FM tuners built into TV cards, and standalone FM tuners (like the D-Link USB jobbie). But does anyone know of an AM tuner for PC? Preferably a USB model that I can use with my notebook. Thanks Hans

Dial-up Internet connection in Gnome

Using SuSE 10.0 and have both KDE and Gnome desktops(want to use Gnome), KInternet plug tool shows up on KDE but not in Gnome! Put the KInternet icon on the Gnome panel and when clicked says the small icon (plug thingy)is already running on the panel but never shows there? Anyone help please?

I have a Aztech ADSL router and was looking for the firmware update.Did not like what I saw. Is this firmware only usable for people with thelatest and "greatest" software or can we also participate? Their technical service is less than satisfactory so I would like to know ifthe mentioning of Win 98SE/ME/XP/2000 is just some mistake and that I shouldupload their newest firmware? Any user of their products from Malaysia or Singapore on the list? I have already informed them by email that I normally do not buy products fromcompanies who are not supporting Linux. I decided to just shut down the kpowersave and stop the pesky screensaver/locking since the suspend always brought me up to a locked-up X, anyhow. Guess nobody knew how to put the kibosh on it, anyhow. Amazing. ;-) ...Yogich

Wireless PCMCIA config on Suse 10.0 with a Belkin 54g f5d7011

Hello, My wireless card was not detected during the suse 10.0 install. Since most of the Internet forums address earlier versions of suse and other belkin cards, I thought I would take it on here. I read some interesting stuff about pcmcia card functionality and the new kernel support for hot plug in /usr/share/doc/packages/pcmciautils/README.SUSE Most of the documentation on the net refers to ndiswrapper solutions. I tried to add it manually using Yast with the wireless, bus-pcmcia, and pcmcia options. But that didn't work. On a side note I am also getting a message in Gnome that says "Can't access ACPI events in /var/run/acpid.socket! Make sure the ACPI subsystem is working and the acpid daemon is running." Hybrid Installations: Commercial + OpenSuSE to Preserve KDE

Hi, I'm probably not the only one who will not give up KDE and who very much does not want to move from SuSE to another distribution. So, if Novell does not back down from it's intention to abandon full KDE support on the commercial product, many of us are going to be faced with an "issue:" How to remain with both SuSE and KDE. We might as well start considering how to deal with this unfortunate eventuality now. The information that's out there right now says the OpenSuSE will continue to include the full complement of KDE software, so the question seems to be how easy will it be to run the commercial SuSE release and augment it with my beloved KDE? What challenges will it produce? By the way, I saw no mention of when KDE would be dropped. Will 10.1 include it, or will it not be dropped until a later release? Randall Schulz

Suse 10 and squid

Hi all I have just finished installing suse 10 , but when trying to start squid I get the following error: /etc/init.d/squid start returned 1 (unspecified error): Starting WWW-proxy squid (/var/cache/squid) - Could not create cache_dir ! ..failed I have checked to see if the folder is there and it is. Could anyone advise me on this? Thanks in advance B.Rumsey

Fetchmail + Hula, how?

Linux Newbie Question: I have Hula working just fine, but I was not satisfied with the 1 hour polling time of the mail proxy agent. (I know how to hack the source code to make the poll time smaller, like 5 or 10 minutes, but that's npt the point here) Now I'd like to know how to configure fetchmail to get the mail and deliver it to Hula. Need to shut off screensavers/pw on lid close

I have disabled screensavers in 'Configure Desktop' & in 'Kpowersave' ...all to no avail. Every time I shut the lid & reopen I am met with a screensaver & locked screen. Will disabling xscreensavers (somewhere) finally do the trick?? TIA... ...Yogich
