You didn't mention which version of linaeakconfig - I have 0.4.1b-5. My suggestion - try launching the deamon and the others from the console (as root?) and see what messages you might get. I've got SUSE 10 running on my Inspiron 8500, and have been trying, so far unsuccessfully, to get lineak wokring correctly. When I launch lineak, I see nothing happen. A few times I've used Klineakdconfig, and things appeared correct. The keycodes returned seemed to match those listed in the default config file. Now, though, when I launch Klineakdconfig, the program segfaults. Investigating, I just saw that the various components have the following versions: lineakd: lineakd-0.8.3+cvs-3 lineak_defaultplugin: lineak_defaultplugin-0.8.3+cvs-2 lineak_xosdplugin: lineak_xosdplugin-0.8.3+cvs-2 lineak_kde: lineak_kde-0.8.3+cvs-2 Now, I notice the lineakd itself is cvs-3, while the rest are cvs-2. I'm guessing this is a different version, and could easily explain why things aren't working for me? Thanks, Steve

SaX questions

Hi! Is there a legal way to alter the configuration files which are produced by sax? At the moment I am interested in changing default font directories, and the only place I have found is /usr/share/sax/api/data/StaticFontPathList, however I find myself a bit reluctant to edit it, as it's supposed to be rpm-controlled and not edited by hands. BTW, I have noticed that sax doesn't recognizes my mouse correctly. I have a synaptics touchpad built-in in the notebook and an external wireless logitech, while sax detects 3 mouses, of which 2 are detected incorrectly and without manual intervention I couldn't get a working wheel. -- Best regards, Alexander.

hosts.deny syntax

I want only 192.168.1.46 to be able to connect via ssh. In hosts.deny I have put: ssh:all except 192.168.1.46 but everyone else can still ssh. What's wrong with this syntax? Cheers, Steve. 9.3

The printer was bought for our production workstations which are all running WinXP, so was a wise choice for what was needed. I'm on my own with linux as a desktop so I've had to make do with whatever I can, and I was hoping to take advantage of this printer. I have been to date using an old Lexmark Optra R+ but it's just run out of toner and they won't buy any more as they have a new 'n shiny HP CL2600n... I saw someone is trying to get a linux based project working with these host based HP printers. One can only hope either they will get it working or HP will add some rudimentary support for linux on the desktop at some time. SteveC

Suse 10 will not install

I'm having an install problem with Suse 10. The first CD goes fine, then the system reboots and halts with the following... GRUB Loading stage1.5 This is on a brand new PC purchased this month from Monarch Computer Systems. They are now offering to pre-install Suse 10 but were not when I ordered the system 3 weeks ago. I purchased Suse 10 from CDW and its is the 32-bit version. This PC is an AMD Sempron 64. I do get the following message when the install starts... "Cool Computer but..." "You are installing 32 bit software on a 64 bit machine" Could this be part of the problem? Another point, I noticed this has a SATA hard drive. After some Googling I found out that SATA support is pretty new to Linux. Could this be a problem? I've been using Suse 8.1 since it was released and that was my last linux install, so I'm a little rusty. Pleas help!! Matt

Why does RAID remove a drive?

Hi All, I just noticed that my Soft-RAID device (/dev/md0) had dropped a disk from its array. I was a little suprised by this as the drive in question was nearly new (being a replacement for a drive that failed a month or so ago). I checked the drive's status with the smartctl tool and it reported it as ok. I did short and long tests, and it still reports as OK. I can't find any information about why the drive was dropped from the array. How can I determine this? Also, if the drive reports itself as fully fine, is there any reason I shouldn't simply use raidhotadd to put it back in the array? Cheers, Simon "You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers.
