Cannot Run Yast2 Online Update

Hi list. I Just installed 9.0, when I running Yast2 to do Online Update it cannot received the server list. And the warning message appear: URL: http://www.suse.de/cgi-bin/suseservers.cgi socket error: 110 What does this mean? I think nothing wrong with the firewall and internet connections. I run the SuSEfirewall2 on 7.3 machine and the setup is basically allow the passive ftp traffic and http traffic. TIA edwin

bash command line editing?

I seem to recall being able to select the contents of a command line by holding down the shift key, and using left and right arrow keys. Is/was that a bash feature? How do I enable it? Also, recently I've noticed I'm losing the last command in my history quite often. Especially if it fails. I don't believe that is the way bash used to function. Has something changed? How to I prevent this from happening? STH

AbiWord22

(SuSE 9.0, Gnome 2.2.2, Synaptic 0.46) I used Synaptic to install AbiWord22, version 2.1.0-100. during the install, Synaptic indicated that a dependency had not been met and indicated that abiword needed to be installed. I added abiword 2.0.3-100 to the list. Synaptic then completed the install with no reported errors. However, I cannot now find the executable for abiword22. I can find and execute abiword (2.0.3) but not abiword22 (2.1.0). Using 'Search for File', I found abiword but not abiword22. Can anyone help me find abiword22? Any assistance will be appreciated. Don Henson

Color printing with a Lexmark 5700

Hi all, has anyone succeded printing colorful docs using the Lexmark 5700 printer? I know there is a driver, which I use at home, that allows you to print B&W but I wonder if someone has tweaked that driver for color printing... libtool question

Hi Folks, I'm trying to train a fresh x86 (Athlon) 9.0 install to read video data from a fire-wired camcorder, then to create a DVD "project" with susequent burning to DVD. This process has required downloading and compiling of many programs and libraries since I want the DVD to contain menus, chapters, digital photos, etc. So far, I can read the data and edit the video "dv" files. However, I'm having problems with a key part of the puzzle: a package called "transcript". The compilation of transcript has given me fits. It complains about various missing library files with an extention of .la. Apparently these are small files that are a part of "libtool", which helps to keep library compiling neat and tidy. Alas, many of these files are missing on SuSE 9.0, even when the subject library is installed. Example: transcript complained about /usr/lib/libSDL_net.la being missing. I then located the SDL package on Freshmeat, compiled, and the missing .la file was installed. I repeated this process with two additional libaries but am now stumped because libtool is asking for libaa.ls. I can't determine what package this library is a part of to allow recompiling. Thus, I have two questions: Where are the missing .la files? What package is libaa a part of? Thanks for any help, Lew Wolfgang

TO ALL: I have a funny to tell you. I can now print with my Epson c62 and it works better, faster than the Canon BJC-2100!!! But the funny part is I first went and installed the Windows software for the printer, printed with it to verify and then restarted my computer into Suse. After SuSe booted up I went to home and DELETED 2 drivers that had done me no good . Then I went to Yast and did a new install for the printer, and lo and behold, it went right thru and finished the job! All I figure now is that there was too much clutter and it could not find the file it needed. =-O
