Nvidia Drivers

Hi All, I went to Nvidia's site to get the newest video drivers. However, I'm not sure which one I need. This computer is an Intel 3ghz. So which one should I use: Linux A32 Linux A64 Linux AMD64 Thanks Russ

Im going to install the graphics driver. Is there any special recomendation for SuSE 9? Matrox G550 3D acceleration activated on Suse Linux 9.0

Just a quick note on my successful installation of 3D acceleration on my MATROX G550 dual head graphics card. Allows me to play the arcade game Armagetron on SUSE Linux 9.0. see also ftp://ftp.matrox.com/pub/mga/archive/linux/2003/lnx30notes.txt 1. get mgadrivers-3.0.tgz from www.matrox.com 2. tar xvzf mgadrivers-3.0.tgz 3. cd mgadrivers 4. su 5. sh install.sh 6. change in /etc/sysconfig/kernel MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT=" cdrom ide-cd ide-scsi" to MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT=" cdrom ide-cd ide-scsi mga agpgart" 7. cp /etc/X11/XF86Config /etc/X11/XF86Config_bac 8. change in /etc/X11/XF86Config Section "Module" Load "dbe" Load "type1" Load "freetype" Load "glx" Load "speedo" Load "v4l" Load "extmod" EndSection to Section "Module" Load "dbe" Load "type1" Load "freetype" Load "glx" Load "dri" Load "speedo" Load "v4l" Load "extmod" EndSection and save in /etc/X11/XF86Config_with_3D You can leave Multihead activated. To use 3D and one monitor, do cp /etc/X11/XF86Config_with_3D /etc/X11/XF86Config to use both monitors and no 3D, do cp /etc/X11/XF86Config_bac /etc/X11/XF86Config and reboot.

Synaptic question...

I'm using synaptic to update programs. A few weeks ago I installed zenity to use with a program someone made for me, but it had some dependency problems. It works, but without some other stuff. Now synaptic wants to delete it everytime I try to update something. Anyone know a way to get around this? I mean other than to install Zenity correctly....which I don't think will happen. Tom

SuSE 9.0 SaX2 can't run

Hello, I have SuSE 9.0 Pro with KDE 3.1 nicely running on my PC. The problem is that when I run SaX2 a xapi window pops up with message: File: input still locked Please wait ... and it stays there forever. The only option I have is to click Cancel. I get the same message even if I login as root so it looks to me it's not a permission problem. I tried to find a record related to the problem in the log files but so far no luck. Please, any advice? Thank you Peter

USB Modem plug & play?

Hi, before investing on a USB modem I'd like to ask someone here about issues. My system, Thinkpad 600x laptop, runs on Suse's 9.0 Pro edition. Suse was able to detect/configure my current MegaHertz/USR PCMCIA modem. It works well but I cannot get any speed higher than 34 even though it's rated to transfer up to 56. I'd like to switch to a modem with better transfer/compatibility but with the ease of portability. I've noted a few small pocket USB modems, hence my question below. Generally, are USB modems plug and play like most USB devices or do they require additional drivers/configuration?
