Setting up spamc/spamd instead of spamassassin

Spamassassin is just slowly downing Kmail like you wouldn't believe. I got spamd started but it seems spamc doesn't scan stuff. The docs seem to imply just change the line in the filter section of Kmail from spamassassin to spamc. Well that doesn't seem to work. Any hints? Thanks Nick

PosgtreSQL 7.3 on suse 8.2

I have tried to run postmaster in order to start up postgreSQL server.. I have run initdb -D /var/db_data to create db cluster. When I try to start the postmaster I get: Failed to initialize lc_messages to '' FATAL: invalid value for option 'LC_MESSAGES': 'en_US' in my postgresql.conf I have in postgresql.conf (in the bottom of that...) Suse 8.2 sux works for ssh forwarded connections

A problem with su is that it looses you authority to run X apps. Even as root, you will get rebuffed trying to run something as innoculous as xclock. sux is a little suse script that allows you to su and still retain your connection to your X server. ie: you can su then run yast2 and get full graphical yast immediately. It's particuarily useful with headless or remote servers, ssh in and use X to display yast back on a comfortable workstation. Now with new enhanced 8.2 you can ssh in as yourself (not root), sux up to root and pull yast2 back to your local desktop. Wonderful, I hated leaving root logins allowed but needed it for just that reason. The suse's build (suse 8.2) of glibc-2.3.2 is not good!

Hello, I trying to start kavdaemon on suse 8.2. It's not posible, but it posible whith redhat or other distro with glibc-2.3.2! I have change this lib and got good result. SuSE! What do you think? Would you like to release an apdates to glibc-2.3.2 and stable gcc 3.3 too? Thank you all. Robik

Getting sound to work

Hello all... I'm using SuSE 8.2 and having a dickens of a time with getting the sound to work consistently. I use the SB Live! Value card in a Dell 2.5 GHz machine with 1 GHz RAM. I can't get CD's or MIDI files to play sound even though their respective app's are "working" (elapsed time controls moving, etc). I have system sounds and I'm able to listen to streaming audio via the Internet (ShoutCast) and XMMS works as well except the volume control doesn't function (have to use KMix or others to adjust volume). Another strange thing I've noticed is when using Gamix, it starts off saying no soundcard is available or sound has not been configured yet. I'm completely lost by this audio thing and hope one of you gurus can figure it out. TIA! -- Zach Linux--Doing to Microsoft what the DOJ couldn't
