Dear All, How can i add TTF ? I tried KDE Control Center, but it doesn't work for any X clients. Is there any other way to add them? The easy one would be great because i'm confuse to read the "Administration Guide". Thanks, Adinda

Ie, they have stdin and stdout, and can pipe from or to programs. Aren't .NET and J2EE efforts to do the same thing. With J2EE, you have a set of standards with both OSS and commercial implementations. (Several of each.) I do consulting with a Fortune 500 company that is pushing J2EE via IBM's WebSphere on its project teams. The preferred setup will be clustered Linux boxes, but they are still piloting that for now. IIRC, .NET is not supported in their datacenter. In our case Apache/Tomcat does the job, but we are likely going to be forced to use Web Sphere ($$). :-( FYI: Apache/Tomcat only addresses a small part of J2EE. There are various Jakarta (OSS) projects that work together to address the whole. .NET technology on Linux or a good substitution?

Hello SuSE folkz, Could somebody tell me please if it's possible to run M$ .NET web applications on Linux platform? If it isn't possible, what Open Source environment can be used instead of .NET with the same or better features? One of our managers - M$ addicted drone, insists on using ..NET with ISII on WinXP platform instead of FastCGI, Apache MySQL on Linux. What arguments can I give him to go with the Open Source web environment? By the way, is it right info, or just a rumour, that M$ quit promoting .NET 'cause lack of interest and compatibility with web standards? Thank you in advance for any information. Alex

qmail vs. xmailserver (little OT)

Hi there! 1. I would like to setup a medium ISP mail server (about 200 users, 2000 messages/hour, upto 500.000/hour in case of serious spam) and I am still not quite sure: qmail or xmailserver? It has to be a webmail-capable server, too... 2. Do you have rpm's for any one of the above servers? For SuSE 8.2, if possible, of course ;) Thank you! Radu

Make 8.2 SuSE CD's

Hi all, I download full SuSE 8.2 ftp directory and i need to make CD's for installation. Any idea to build correct CD's (packages) for install from CD's (not ftp ou directory metod)? Thanks anckerDJ

SuSE 8.2 and hwinfo

Hey Group: On my passed 8.0 version of SuSE I was told by this list to remove the DB created by hwinfo. Then I was instructed to rebuild it by simply running "hwinfo". It worked and was a good way to clear stored devices which have removed from showing up when typing EX. "hwinfo --cdrom". The behavior of "hwinfo" and the location of it's DB have changed in 8.2. SuSE 8.2 - /var/lib/hardware/unique-keys. It seems that the DB will not be rebuilt unless I reboot and "Starting hardware scan" (as I remember) does so. man hwinfo seems not mention howto rebuild the DB without rebooting. hwinfo --help Usage: hwinfo [options] Probe for hardware. --short just a short listing --log logfile write info to logfile --debug level set debuglevel --dump-db n dump hardware data base, 0: external, 1: internal --hw_item probe for hw_item hw_item is one of: cdrom, floppy, disk, network, gfxcard, framebuffer, monitor, camera, mouse, joystick, keyboard, chipcard, sound, isdn, modem, storage-ctrl, netcard, printer, tv, dvb, scanner, braille, sys, bios, cpu, partition, usb-ctrl, usb, pci, isapnp, ide, scsi, bridge, hub, memory, smp, pppoe, all, reallyall Any clues? I did need to use "-braille" to stop it from hanging.
