Pardon me sending this to Suse rather than postfix but that list is really high bandwidth and I'm hoping to catch a postfix expert here. Postfix has a lot of advantages over sendmail and (as far as I am concerned) one killer defect. How do I ask the web of postfix processes what will happen to a given email? The functionality that (insecurely) exists in the SMTP "expn" command. (I always used that through a perl wrapper "expn" anyway) The extensive tracing that sendmail -bt allows. Searching on postfix.org and the net reveals various mumblings about difficulty... Which sounds like a used car salesman trying to explain away a tin windscreen. If you can't see where it's going then what use is it? Anyone using a Nomad MP3 player with SuSE?

I just bought a Nomad MP3 player from Creative Labs. It uses a removeable USB storage device for holding music. I'm trying to figure out how to mount it and if it can be used with SuSE rather than windows. So, 1) Is anyone using this and if so, how'd you get it to work? 2) How would I mount a USB storage device? xmms problem - ISA soundcard

Hi all, Hardware - ISA Es1868 soundcard on ISA bus. Detected and supported well in Linux with OSS drivers. xmms does not advance on playlist, although I have unchecked the "no playlist advance" option, so I guess it should move. A related fact is - when I used mplayer and try to seek, I hear "dub!" kind of noise - does the card reinitialize at this point? If I inturrupt my mplayer, then the card produces last 0.5 second of soundtrack recursively. What are the chances that at "end of audio stream", my soundcard is not handling it well, [and so xmms hangs too]. The ISA cards seem well supported in Win98 [my other OS]. My old yamaha ISA card also was not trouble free. It did not give that huge "dub!" sound, but did have the tendency to go in the loop for 5-6 seconds.. Are there any users of these legacy cards around? Is there a way to circumvent this? need advice on linux routing

hello list, I came across a little problem lately that I think linux can solve. There is a site I work at that's using a symantec 200r router. It's worked fine for a while...but that company leased a block of public IP addresses. The 200r looks like it doesn't have functionality for building routing tables on the WAN side. The LAN side is decent...but not the WAN. So...I'm thinking - Suse to the rescue! I need to route the block of public IP's they leased to a few machines on the inside. What books or docs do you guys recommend for this? I've used the Susefirewall for use at home and it's worked just fine. I don't recall the details of the susefirewall docs but I think it can do WAN and LAN routing. There aren't any books on Suse that I know of....the books I've seen for linux are from oreilly and places like that. Should I use the susefirewall method or should I use the more "common" methods like those described in this book: Building Internet Firewalls, 2nd Edition - o'reilly is the publisher. Thanks, Oskar

Jay, In my configuration mod_php4 shows up as one of the installed modules. And I believe the connection to your difficulty may be that the directive AddType application/x-httpd-php .php appears between the tags: <IfModule mod_php4.c> ... </IfModule> Thus if Apache does not find mod_php4 installed it will not invoke the directive AddType application/x-httpd-php .php and it will not know that files with the extension .php are to be parsed by php. I beleive there are other ways around this, which do not involve use of php as a module. But I really can only speak to what is working on my system. And my system has php4 installed as a module. kmail kquirk

Hi SuSE folk, Have a very aggravating issue with kmail. It is probably a "feature" but I don't want it. Running 8.2 with kmail 1.5.1 In the Folder column, of which I have many, a "mouseover" will change the Subject panel to whatever that mouse selection happens to be. Dare not allow the mouse cursor to stray anywhere near that area. I really prefer to locate and then "click" on that folder to open it and not be subject to an errant mouse. Have looked at every conceivable configuration file and cannot find a way to change this behavior. Hope somebody can help! Bob S.

Gtk applications

Thanks to someone of the list I'm installing the GAIM 0.64 if I'm not wrong, and after many many hours (I don't know why is still so difficult for me to install something in linux) I did it, to find out that the font has the same trouble as evolution, it's based on the GTK-html "thing". In many how-to and other documents, people say that changing the font size in the gnomecc can fix it, and I tried but I get the following error "ORBit-WARNING **: Request notify, ID -1073746912 was rejected by the authentication mechanism!" Can someone explain to me whats's this? and how can I do to fix my fonts? In the case that I try to use gnome-control-center, it works while I have that window open. It also change my background to the bluecurve background and don't let me anymore use my desktop. Anyone??? Thanks in advance Juan C.

Recording on SuSE8.2 not working!?

Prior to SuSE8.2 PE I have never attempted a 'record' operation, and now I am having problems. DAP seems to indicate that it is getting the signal, yet, unless it gives me sqare waves (which happened a couple times), it yields nothing; Krec does nothing --not even saving a file; qarecord does nothing --the counter stays at zero; audacity has been working the same as DAP. I discovered the mixer in DAP and set the output and all. The devices involved in DAP are /dev/dsp (which works) and /device/mixer. I am not having any luck getting aRts-control loaded. It was in the menu at one time --and loaded-- then it wasn't --and won't load. Not sure what is happening, there --but that's another story. If anyone can help me get this figured out, they will definitely have my appreciation! ...CH -- SuSE Is All U Need.
