how to mount a vfat filesystem with mod 777 ?

Imagine the following situation: - computer 1 has linux running and there is a vfat partition mounted - computer 1 is running samba on that vfat partition (i.e. the vfat partition is a share of samba) - computer 2 wants to have write acces on the samba share The problem is, that computer 2 has no write acces, because the vfat partition is mounted 755. The samba.conf file is the following: [public] comment = Schreibbares Verzeichnis path=/home/sure/netzwerk/public public=yes readonly=no browseable=yes create mask=777 How can I make the partition mounted as mod 777 ? Looks like I've been hacked (though the last time I ran YOU was three weeks ago) it's a Firewall/Web system with ports 80,22,postgres open. Kernel panic has me panicked, help

Last two days I have had the following kernel panic twice. Prior to this I have never had a problem. Does anyone know where you can find a copy of Corel's Wordperfect Office 2000 for Linux? I've been using WP since the dos days. If I can get WP on my Linux box, I can discard my Microsoft 98 partition. If that's a no go, will WP Windows version work on Crossover Office? StarOffice just doesn't have the features I'm looking for. identical cd copy

HAIL ALL!! I,ve tried to copy first cd from suse 8.0 and make it bootable! I've used something like this mkisofs -c suse/images/boot.catalog -b disks/bootdisk -f -V SU8000.001 -R -o cd.iso /media/cdrecord and then i've used cdrecord ! i have tried even with mkisofs -c suse/images/boot.catalog -b disks/bootdisk -eltorito-alt-boot -b disks/i386 -eltorito-alt-boot -b disks/modules1 -eltorito-alt-boot -b disks/modules2 -eltorito-alt-boot -b modules3 -eltorito-alt-boot -b disks/rescue-f -V SU8000.001 -R -o cd.iso /media/cdrecord After this when i try to boot with this cd i do not have all options that i have whit the original one (Installation, nstallation-safe settings, Installation Apic enabled, Manual Installation, Rescue System, Memory Test, Boot Installed OS )! I only have installation, installation-safe settings. manual installation, rescue system and Boot installed OS. Can anyone help me? What am i doing wrong? or... how can i make an identical copy of a cd? many, many .. thanx

Anyone have a clue which config file for KDE handle TTF's? I noticed that w/ one of the last couple build of KDE3 that it's not seeing my TTF's. I've got anti-aliasing enabled..but I'm not sure what controls this. Fonts in Xfig

Good Morning/ Afternoon/what-ever everybody, I have 7.3 installed, yes I do not install every version, and have problems with xfig. 7.3 seems only to know TimesRoman(for example) up to a size of 14pt. All bigger sizes are mapped down. I know that it is primary connected to the XFree fonts. I toyed around with the fontinstaller and even with something with "ms" in its name. Yes I am really desperate. Does anybody else have this experience. Does anybody even know a solution? That would be really great. Thanks in advance. Steffen ... _...

I would be thankful for answers to some questions: about wireless cards 1) Re: Wireless Ethernet Cards for Desktops. How does one get Linux to recognize an ethernet card (e.g. a wireless card) that is not on the list of supported cards shown by YAST2? 2) Re: Installing a PCMCIA card onto a Desktop. I understand that one can install a wireless PCMCIA ethernet card in a desktop with the appropriate PCI card. Is there any problem with Linux's recognizing the card under these circumstances? Under Linux 8.0, is there any problem with recognition and use of a wireless PCMCIA? I read the relevant HowTo, but that installed under Debian and I think (guess) an older kernel.
