better understanding of tcp/ip & iptables & kernel & networking

Hi, Does anybody of any good document (linux-oriented would be better :-) ) from which I can increase my knowledge of tcp/ip at the theory level and as well at the arquitectural level in the kernel and at the implementation level covering topics like how packets are constructed, what does it mean the tcp/ip uses windows to transfer, what are frames, how the kernel, tcp/ip and apps interact as well..., etc. Any pointers... Cause today I proofed that my knowledge is very superficial.... Thanks!! Raul

i installed oaf from source and still when i configure bonobo it tells me it cant find oaf, the logs says checking for oaf > 0.6.7 not found i have 0.6.8

List: I've been reading _Smart Computing in Plain English_ for a long time. For those who don't know it, it is a beginner's computing magazine for the PC (read: Windows). Today, I began reading the current (March) issue, and there is a Tux there on page 82! The part I liked the most is where it says, "Microsoft knows that some people set up PCs with a combination of Windows and Linux but doesn't appear to want to talk about it ..." will this iptables rule work?

Will this work to forward netmeeting port to an internal machine (so they videoconference, cause right now the outsider can see the internalmachine(can get video) but we cant see the outside, probably the firewall is cutting as out... but I cant quite understand our firewall :-( ): iptables -t nat -p all --protocol tcp --source-port 1718 --destination-port 1718 -s 0/0 -d 192.168.0.4 This would append it to the rules(or tables, how do you say that in iptables jargon, I am an ipchains fan myself :-) ) right? Or would it erase my existing chains(tables)? Thanks! Raul P.D.: I cant send in my actual rules from iptables -nvL if you want.

forwarding netmeetings port

I have a pc with win9x and a webcam... how can I forward netmeeting`s port to that machine (192.168.0.x) so they can videoconference to the outside?? Is the port forwarding the only thing that has to be done?? Thanks! Raul

SuSE gives choices for: 2.2 or 2.4 for 386, 2.2 or 2.4 for Pentium, vanilla 2.4 (no SuSE patches), and 2.2 or 2.4 SMP. The installation kernel behaves fine, it just dies on reboot. I think I have found the problem. The disk drive has more than 1024 cylinders. The BIOS translates that to a smaller number of cylinders with more heads, but Linux bypasses the BIOS, so bad geometry. A key fact that I just discovered is important is that this box used to be dual boot Windows 95 and Linux. EZ-Drive was installed to handle the larger disk (it's a software extended BIOS). Then I got a dedicated Linux box and made the first box dedicated Windows. Now it is to be a dedicated Linux box and I wiped EZ-Drive. That's the key. I found a Web site that explained this in terms that match my experience. Now to keep reading and fix it. Komba help please

I am trying to run Komba2 to access my windowsbox but I keep getting the below error when I try to mount the C: drive. Any ideas on what I need to do to fix it? smbmount-error : smbmnt must be installed suid root for direct user mounts (500,500)
