xscreensaver & xlock problems

Hi, I have xscreensaver running on my machine and some times it works as it should, but some times it dies and brings down my entire WindowMaker session, taking the machine back to the KDM login. Has anyone else experianced problems like this? Any ideas on fixes? Funny thing is that I have had similar problems with xlock in the past, where it would die after a few minutes of running, but at least it didn't kill my session. Perhaps this problem has nothing to do with the screen savers, but just happens to show up there? Thanks, _Nick

Hi. Running SuSE 7.2. I have had a problem on the last here. Sometimes when my computer boots, it locks during the bootsession. Permission changes automatically

Adding devices to Konqueror - KDE2

Hello, On the left sife bar of konqueror you can see a tree of devices and your can mount them and browse... I can see CDROM, Floppy, and my Win FAT partition. I would like to add some other devices to this tree as a SCSI JAZ and a USB camera that I mount as filesystems sometimes... How can I add those devices to KDE2??? THXs!

Printing from StarOffice

I am brand new to Linux and have just installed SuSE v7.2 personal in its own partition on my hard drive. Everything appears to work. I have a Lexmark Z52 printer installed and I can print documents from a terminal using the <lpr -Plp filename> command, or I can use the GUI and print from Text Editor, Advanced Text Editor, Kwrite, and Kedit. But when I try to print from StarOffice, the printer sucks in half a sheet of paper and then freezes. I have read 'Setting up your printer for StarOffice' and 'Printer Checklist', but until now I have been only a Windows mouse-clicker and I don't understand the information! Help please, in idiot-proof language. Mike Hayne

Very clarifying. For the moment I am trying to get rid of one error message per day. They just make me nervous ;-). I am using kernel 2.4.4-4GB on a system with DrDos on hda1. For the solutions I would like to opt for the third because I would not like to go back to kernel 2.2 and on recompiling I have not yet bitten out my teeth ;-). Here is my fstab which for clarity I have put into columns. In reality the columns can not so easily detected ;-). As far as I can see it the relevant parts are noauto. Could you tell me what I should change? special Bios instructions

Installing my ZIP parallel drive on my out of the Box 7.2 Prof version I found that in the Reference Manual from SuSe it was mentioned that in the BIOS the EPP mode for the parallel port is set. The installation was successful but I started thinking of the numerous possibilies for BIOS settings. Is there some place where preferred BIOS settings are kept? Or the settings that should be kept away from? My system has always run okay for DOS, never got to Windows but I have no idea what the preferred Linux settings should be.
