I'm currently running SuSE 7.1 on several boxes including my Compac
Presario laptop. The problem I'm having is uniqely isolated to the
laptop. I can automatically boot into both 640 x 480 and 800 x 600
screen resolutions but must use level 3 and then a startx command to
jump into level 5 and use 1024 x 768, my preferred resolution. When I do
this I get a beautiful display, but when I run any of the apps in the
Corel WordPerfect Office Suite the individual programs display with the
blue title bar above the limits of the screen. As such, I cannot move or
resize the dialogs. I wondering if anyone else has experienced this
behavior and if so how to correct it. This only occurs so far with these
apps which are a Corel port of the windows offive suite version (ver 9)
and run under the Corel release of wine.
Basic info:
Compaq Presario 12XL430 Board 06E0h Rev A
Trident CyberBlade i1 (AGP (77)
Phoenix Bios Ver 4.06 12/08/00 EPP Rev 9.00
128 Meg RAM
I'm including below a copy of boot.msg in case it may provide the clue
that I am overlooking, and a copy of XF86Config. Interestingly, I find
4 different copies of XF86Config on the system:
1) /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/sax/files 3738 bytes listing only the 1024x768
option
2) /etc/X11 4418 bytes has the 1024x768 option as the only video
option not #ed out
3) /etc/ 2696 bytes no video resolution breakout at all
4) / 4201 bytes has 1024x768 as the only video option not #ed out
I'm curious as to which file is actually being read and I'm assuming its
either that found in / or in /etc/X11. Can someone tell me which one is
being used and the one I need?
thanks,
dave
