Do I have to add it to /etc/group file of the NIS client machine or is it possible to do it only at the NIS server /etc/group file???? At the moment I got it working with adding the user to the /etc/group file of the NIS client...... Dumb problem connecting to localhost

Hi, I have really dumb problem when trying to connect to localhost: http://localhost http://192.168.0.18 Connection failed. I have checked apache configuration, hosts, resolv.conf, they seem to be fine (SuSE Help Center works if I run "susehelpcenter" from terminal but not URL from WEB browser). May be the problem occur because my notebbok currently not connected to local network and trying to reach offline name server or gateway? Any suggestion apreciated. Thanks in advance Andrei Verovski

Where to find SuSE's kernel sources?

I need to locate 2.4.6-SuSE kernel sources for example. I know there is the mantel directory but that only has the one he's currently working on. Where do they go when he is finished? Is there not a location for all of the SuSE kernel sources? -- Mark Hounschell dmarkh(a)cfl.rr.com

Hi, I want to get everything working with utf-8 (as much as possible) Although I have set the LC_ with tr_TR.utf8 which font I need to get loaded for the console screen (no X server) when I look the rc.config I have the following KEYTABLE="trq.map.gz" CONSOLE_FONT="lat5-16-psfu.gz" CONSOLE_SCREENMAP="" CONSOLE_UNICODEMAP="" CONSOLE_MAGIC COMPOSETABLE="winkeys shiftctrl latin1.add" What are the things that are needed to get the utf-8 related things get working with these parameters. So I could be able to read and write in any language not just -- Togan Muftuoglu

Print Probs

Hello, I just was given an HPDeskjet 710c and have it and a remote/Samba printer (a Canon BJC 4200) set up with Yast2. Last night I was able to print from both, but now I can't. <break> Ok I found out this is a GDI printer...great. How was I able to print from it right after I set it up with Yast2? I'm puzzled. lpc status shows: queuing enabled, printing enabled, Deskjet is ready and printing, *BUT* two jobs are just sitting in the queue. Am I kicking a dead horse? NIC trouble

I have problems getting a new ethernet card working on one of my machines, It is a Jensen card with a Realtek driver(rtl8139.o). When I use Yast2 to set up my card i get this error message at the end: 'These errors occured during saving configuration: Device eth0 is not running'. I have installed the driver which was included with the card.
