OK, i've come across a slight problem, (other than this the full install has been a breeze in 4 hrs, well done SuSE) I preface it with I had to use yast1( 2 hung), kernals 2.2 and 2.4 installed and x 4 (no problems) Problem: when the machine is rebooting after install it's automatically restarting Yast1 to see if anything's left to do. >From 7.0 to 7.1 I decided to back up /etc, /var, ./boot/local, and my home directory and do a fresh install. Unfortunately, my somewhat complex .fvwm2rc file is now broken because SuSE decided to change all the icons, and all their locations. Does anyone know where, on the 7.0 CDs I can find the pixmap directory? -- Overflow on /dev/null, please empty the bit bucket.

Hi, Maybe a SGI expert on the list. I read in a german computer-magazine that SGI released the Source-Code of the 3D Developer Kit OpenInventor to the LinuxWorldExpo in SanDiego.. But I cant find anything of this on the Internet.If I search generally webwide I come ever only to TGS-Binaries for Linux(x86) and if I search via SGI there is only a lot of doc and Irix binaries.Any feedback or reference welcomed. Compiling the Kernel and other applications

Hi, I wonder, if compiling Kernel and other application, we've got the same environement, I mean location of exec files and so on, like the delivered distribution is made. I've tried several weeks ago to get the Apache stuff on the Official, and the new version compiled fine. But concerning the location, as I didn't change the defaults, le server was not installed into the same directory. Otherwise, how could I get informed of how SuSE compile their software, to get latest rpm ? Or should I always have to get the rpm from SuSe to get rid of this ? Thanks for your reply Pascal MiQUET

System.map

I've been recompiling my 2.2.18 kernel several times during the last couple of days in order to get my IDE PleXWriter 8423Ti to burn a CD. That's another story that's is not sucessful yet. However, after each kernel compile I'd copy the bzImage and the System.map to /boot and refire lilo. While searching the logs for msgs about the PleXWriter under ide-scsi emulation I noticed that during booting System.map-2.2.18 was always being loaded despite my copying System.map from /usr/src/linux after each compile. I've noticed that lilo.conf doesn't contain any mention of the system.map. So, how does one tell the kernel which System.map to use, especially if two different kernels create two different System.maps??? JLK
