Boot off your 2000 cd.. run the repair utility. Then select the boot record repair. That will get your 2000 partition booting again. Then just load your suse image in the boot.ini. Until recently, read half an hour ago, I used the boot manager of win2000, and I would really like to continue doing that on that machine. Now I don't get the bootmanager at all. antivir program from the 7.2 cds

There is an antivir program on the suse 7.2 cds. I have it installed an then put 2 infected files on a linux box an then ran the antivir program. it found that one of them had a virus an the other file it did not detect a virus. I know that both are known viruses. I can not find out any info on how to tell the antivir program to clean or delete the infected files. was wondering if anyone knows anything on this. Maybe someone from suse that is reading this knows something since you put the software in the distro. thanks jack

Burn bootable CDs

Hi fellows. I am thinking of burning images of the below kind: 1) bootable both Linux and DOS 6 2) Linux should boot from CD into 16 MB HDD 3) Securing my installed Souzie for backup reasons, it should then work from CD (inside Ramdisk), if possible Now, please how can I get this done, what do I need? If detailed explanation is asked too much, a little friendly point into the right direction was enough.

Personnal firewall /filter

Hello ! 1.- Stupid and primary question : (never did it b4) tried to install firewall on my stand alone PC. The interface in question nr.2 was of the SuSEfirewall.config.rc file was set as ttyS1, which is my modem port. When loading linux, i get a message saying that the interface must be specified, and, of course whole of the firewall boot set up marks failed. Unhappily my 7.1pro book doesn't help a lot. They tell what to write in for ISDN, not for a stupid external modem. Suppose there will be a lot a people around there who see the answer as obvious and will condescent to help me. (thanks) 2.- another stupid question : when starting linux, another message comes :etc/inittab [89] id filed too long (max 4 characters). My line 89 of inittab is : "fax getty (Hylafax)" I just fear the question is too simple to resolve and nobody willanswer my question (the truth is that it doesn't seem to harm the funccionning) 3.- KDE : when trying to install RealPlayer, I get grey squares displayed instead of characters. Saw somewhere that JRE 1.3 had such effects on Konqueror. Downloaded then Sun's JRE 1.3.1 but finalizes with *rpm.bin I know how to install rpm, bur rpm.bin ? The package installer doesn't work with it. Probably a lot of people know the answer to such undercivilized a question but will someone give me the right suggestion ' Rgds to all Jacek

Hey all, The latest PyQt rpm is complaining about SIP 2.5 and an associated lib, but I can't find that version of sip on SuSE's site? Is it even out or is it included in the PyQt rpm? Kernel 2.4.7 and 2.4.10

Hi; I had a slightly scary time with upgrading my kernel. First I tried updating to 2.4.7. Everything seemed to go well (no error messages), but after a reboot the system froze at LIL-. After a boot disk to get back into my system, I upgraded to 2.4.10 and everything works fine (so far)! Does anyone know what's up with 2.4.7? instalation freezing

Hello All I'm trying to install SuSe 7.1 on a Sun Enterprise 1, with an UltraSparc 176Mhz chip, 128mb memory, internal ide and scsi hard drives and scsi cdrom and an external scsi hdd. However when it starts the hardware detection, "> scsi.2: scsi cmd" appears on the screen and the installation freezes. Just before the ">>>SuSE installation program......", there is a Uniplemented SPARC system call 69. Any suggestions to overcome this would be much appreciated.
