NS Question: OT?

I keep getting an error essage in NS, Bookmarks have changed on disk and are being reloaded. It jsut keeps happening every so often, even when NS is not running it happened. What's up with this? XF86 4.0.2 unstable with ATI Rage 128 GL AGP

Hi, My XF86 crashes about once a day since I upgraded to the 4.0.2 available on SuSE's download site. It has always happened when dragging a window quickly. X simply restarts and sends me back to the kdm login prompt. Am I the only person with this problem? Steve

Xwindow sytem: no mouse, no keyboard, please help

For the time being I have given up on getting my ATI Radeon graphics card to work under XFree86 4.0.2 I am now trying to set up the Xwindow system using the lowest and most standard settings: Standard VGA monitor settings 640 X 480, 16-color mode, 2 megs. of video ram, etc. When I choose standard /dev/mouse setting and start Xwindow system, all my mouse does is flicker across the top of the screen when I move it, and my keyboard ceases to function. When I choose /dev/ttyS2 mouse setting and start Xwindow system, my mouse does not function at all, and keyboard also does not function. I am using Suse 7.0 Professional. My mouse is a standard Mitsumi mouse with a PS/2 interface. It has 3 buttons, the middle one being a scroll button that you can either push up or down. My keyboard is a simple 101 key standard board with a PS/2 interface. Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix these things. Also, if you have any suggestions for a decent graphics card that will work with XFree 3.3.6, I would greatly appreciate it. I am thinking of wiping out my current installation of Suse 7.0 and starting over from scratch using XFree 3.3.6. Thank you for your time and help. Mike Flug michael.flug(a)snet.net

Hey everyone, I have a question that might sound a bit newby-ish. I have a system with two hard drives on a Linux box. I have freshly installed 7.0 on one of the hard drives and the other has nothing of importance on it. It is of the ext2 fs format. I want to make this into a "storage" drive so that I can download etc... I found a tutorial on about.com that seems pretty thorough. http://linux.about.com/compute/linux/library/weekly/aa091100c-a.htm?rnk=r1&t erms=linux+%2Bhard+drive My question begins with, is this tutorial thorough enough? Second, before I "fdisk /dev/hdb" do I go into /etc/fstab and either comment out (#) the "/hdb" listings (there are two) or delete them or does it matter. Is there anything else that I should know so that I do not hose my newly installed 7.0 on my primary drive? Thanks, Doug Finch

ncr53c1010 and SuSE Linux 7.1?

I am looking for information about the ncr53c1010 SCSI chipset. Has a driver for this been implemented in the 2.4 kernel, so that SuSE Linux 7.1 supports it, or have SuSE implemented their own support for it in SuSE Linux 7.1? I know there are patches out there, so that this chipset can be used, but I would like to know whether or not there is built-in support for it in SuSE Linux 7.1. TIA. Best regards, David List

Hi friends finally i installed the kpackage it´s very useful but i install star office and i find the soffice in the bin directory i click on it but it doesn´t get installed i think that it requires some Java aplication... what can i do? thanks Christian
