Just a thought- You don't have any sym links in the /usr/lib area do you? I had similar error messages from rpm's when I had a temporary sym link to /usr and /var mounted under other names. Jaton GeForce2MX and 6.4

Well, first of all, after getting 6.4 reinstalled, I find that it won't boot. I get to the LILO prompt, and I get nothing. Not an L, not an LI, etc., just a cursor. I use the SuSE boot disk, and tell it to boot the installed system & it works fine. I think I can fix this, but I cannot get X configured. I have tried the generic X servers, and tried picking a number of other cards to no avail. What can I use to get this card up and running? I have Xfree 4.02 and the SuSE NVIDIA drivers (rpms) burned on a CD - and I thought about loading them up & seeing what happens... Any other advice? ALR Revolution 6x6

Hi Susers, :) I have recently acquired an ALR Revolution 6x6, but SuSE 6.4 won't play ball with it, due to the ADAC UltraRAID PCI RAID controller. Windows 2k Advanced Server has no problem with it. I've looked around but couldn't find a driver for it. Any suggestions? I don't really want to remove the controller (or put up with W2K) Regards, Lee.

proftp question:

I am trying to get proftp working (which it is) but I get an error when I boot this machine up. I am running 7.0. I get this message on start up: "Starting ProFTP Server: myname.local-Fatal: Socket operation on non-socket myname.local - (Running from command line? Use 'ServerType standalone' in config file!) I understand that part. But I might have something set wrong - any suggestions? When I type in "ftp localhost" to test everything, I get this: Tying ::1... FTP: connect to address ::1: Connection Refused. Trying 127.0.0.1 Connected to localhost 220 ProFTP 1.2.0 Server (powered by SuSE Linux) Here is the part that I don't get. I do not recall ever setting an address of "::1:" anywhere. The IP of this machine is 10.0.0.1?? I have this same startup error (as mentioned above) on my work machine too, just have never taken the time to mess with it either. Any suggestions? Doug Finch
