Mount Novel Net Ware shares?

Hello Linux folkz, Could somebody tell me please what command should be executed to mount Novel Net Ware shares? I tried to do: mount -t ncp -o username=somename,password=somepsswd //novelserv/sharename /mnt/novel/sharename But it's not working. Where did I goof up? Any suggestions are gladly appreciated. No lockd running?

Hello Linux folkz, Recently I noticed this message in /var/log/warn: kernel:lock_down no lockd running Could somebody please clarify me what this message is referring to and how to fix it? Hello, No I didn't get any answer on the Kmid program and why it doesn't give any sound even though it appears to be playing the file. Otherwise I got MIDI working very well with Timidity and Kmidi player. My experience is that there aren't many people on this list with particular interest in MIDI, and SuSE support will not give any help on this topic. I might try someplace else, the help-gnu-music list for example or some of the KDE lists. XFree 4.02 breaks graphical login!

Just a warning, I think that startx gnome works from the console though. Just do not want anyone to get into a panic in case this happened to them. Any fix from it? I am using kdm. Matt

SB Live! Joystick...Fix

The fix will vary depending on your joystick, but this should work in the majority of cases: alias char-major-15 joy-analog pre-install joy-analog modprobe "-k" \ "emu10k1-joy" "io=0x200" post-install emu10k1-joy modprobe "-k" "joystick" My joystick was totally analog, if you are using a logitech stick then joy-logitech maybe what you need. All the different modules are listed in one of the SuSE manuals. Hope that helps someone... Matthew

Configuring the Graphical Login

It is possible to customise the graphical login screen somewhat ? I'd like to remove some of the graphical icons displayed (before entering username/password) for users, for a start. I installed qmail and several 'daemon' users, and now these have been added to the graphical login, which is confusing for the enduser. I'd appreciate some pointers for further information. 2d. It was really hard to get even a basic x-windows desktop to appear with 7.0. It took me over a week to get any graphics. Hiya, As I undertood reading in the german page there are user, profesional, and update versions. Updates are like profesional version, but it says that updates are subscriptions for at least three releases(?) I am not sure what I undertood. ftp and telnet access

I have a WinMe computer networked with linux Suse 7 .when I try to connect from the winme box to the linux with ftp or telnet it can take up to 3 mins to get a logon screen sometimes it just times out. Also have the same problem with sendmail but not as bad. I don't have any problem with httpd that works fine. anyone have any ideas. Chuck
