[SLE] ZIP drive

Hello. I just bought a brand new IDE zip drive, and, of course, would like to use this piece of technology in my Linux. I'am using SuSE 6.2. I have no Idea how to manage this. It is on IDE1 and configured as slave. I tried mount /dev/hdd /mnt -t vfat, but it was an illigal block device ;( Can anybody help me? I expect we will have 7.0 ftp by January(, 2002)??? Let put ourselves in the future............Ten years from now we will all have gigabit+ ethernet in our homes and SuSE is still cranking out CDs so we go through the trouble of switching them in our drives instead of simplified ftp installs. We will have more suse install manuals on our shelves than AOL cds as coasters. Well I will not buy SuSE anymore simply because they refuse to put the ftp up. You are correct about the symlinks for the help system they are in places like /usr/doc/susehilf/ and /usr/doc/sdb/en/. No, cd /usr/src/ ls linux linux-2.2.16.SuSE linux-2.4.0-test2 linux-2.2.14.SuSE linux-2.2.17 linux-2.4.0-test2.tar.bz2 that's 4 different versions and they all compile and boot fine. It's not so much your DNS as it is a hose-up with your kernel or hardware. Without knowing your vitals, my first guess is that you have a bad NIC or Cable. After you crash, review your messages logs for signs. Also, if you gave us more to go on (Kernel, NIC hardware, CPU, etc...) it would be easier to help. Your mainboard isn't an Abit by chance, is it? I was afraid you'd suggest something practical like get supported hardware. Since this machine is going to be pure linux I went out and got a linksys ethernet card. I figured the one that came with a linux distribution was a good bet for compatibility :-) My laptop is now merrily installing away. Why didn't I do this a week ago? Anyone want to buy a Surecom pc ethernet card, cheap? Thanks, Chris. Hi all, Just bought a new scsi disk. I have Win installed on sda, Suse 7 on sdb and would like to install RH7 on sdc My partitions on sdb for SuSE are : sdb1 /webdownloads 3GB sdb2 /boot 23MB sdb3 /swap 258MB sdb4 Etended sdb5 / sdb6 /usr sdb7 /var sdb8 /opt sdb9 /tmp sdb10 /home My questions are : 1.How do I partition my 3rd disk ? 2.Do I still need a boot and swap partition in disk 3 ? 3.Must I skip the lilo installation on the mbr when installing RH7 which will probably override the SuSE one 4.Will RH7 destroy system.map, map and initrd in my /boot ( sdb2 ) ?
