[SLE] NFS problem

Ok, my forehead is bleeding, the wife is mad about the dents in the wall, so I give, what am I missing? 2 S.u.S.E. boxes, network hardware is ok, telnet, ftp both work fine. But..(you knew this was comming).. why, when I mount an NFS share and I try to mkdir a directory on said share, I get "permission denied"? My /etc/exports is simpile (at least till I figure this out).. It contains only one line right now... /mnt/hdb1 *(rw) It will not let me write anything to the drive..what am I missing, I have checked out any and all the docs I could find...everything seems to be setup right...help! (begging and pleading). [SLE] CD-ROM problem

MY cd rom has been failing. I put a new one in and get the same message, so It isn't the drive Here is what I get root@gandalf:/home/bob > mount /cdrom mount: the kernel does not recognize /dev/hdc as a block device (maybe `insmod driver'?) What could be my problem here? [SLE] Windows control

Hi List, here is a question I seem to be unable to solve on my own: I am trying to customize my KDE environment in such away that the focus follows the mouse around. This it does just fine after setting the appropriate buttons in the KDE Control Center under Windows and Properties. However, I am also trying to set my mouse to Click Raise. This won't work on my x86 version of stock SuSE 6.4. Interestingly enough it works just fine on my alpha version of 6.4. Any ideas as to how to solve this? That sounds like it should work, since it seems like the problem always crops up when the mailbox gets pretty good sized, though it has never been even half what the total capacity is (25MB). I've usually ended up shuffling messages around until I get the Inbox down to where it will download correctly _and_ flush, then I go back in via the web interface and feed the other mail folders back into the inbox, and download the messages; one mail box at a time. What a PITA! [SLE] Timezone problem

Hello, I am using 6.4, and cannot seem to get the correct time with my system. I use localtime, and set the bios to local time, as well. My clock is -7 hours from local time. I have it set for US/Pacific, and do not use the gmt="-u" option. But, when I did use the option, it had no affect. [SLE] [OT] Linux on Sun

Does anyone know whether I can run SuSE Linux on a Sun (Sparc20)? Or, if not, is there a Linux distro for that platform? Maybe even FreeBSD? It's a small experiment we're setting up here. This could make Linux a lot more popular in my company (currently, I constantly have to defend it's use, despite of the overwelming performance and possiblities it created).
