[SLE] Fehler & khylafax?

Yo! SuSE'rs, I have one weird thing going one after I installed HylaFax; when I boot up & into KDE I meet the KHylaFax window and this small pop-up with the title 'Fehler' saying: 'Can't login :-( '. Is this a new feature or what? Of course this is when I'm already logged in so there's no logic in the message, someone who knows what's going on here? [SLE] automounter, auto.master

Quick question, does anyone know if the the location marker (or whatever it's called) for auto.master direct mount locations may have changed? I have the NIS/NFS orielly book which says it's /- auto.direct but all that does is create a damn directory on the client root path. I have a windoze copy of the above, are there any binaries etc available for running this under Linux, or do I have to shell out again for a Loki version.... [SLE] Network Probs

Hello List, Just a note to publicly thank all who offered help / advice on this thread. I have come to the conclusion that what I have is not a network problem, but rather something to do with Netscape and possibly its Keyword program. I also just learned from another posting that some things have been moved around in this version (7.0 Pro). I will continue my quest, but do not want to take up anymore of anyone's time. This is a great list and I do not want to abuse it. I can see I have some more homework to do before I once again throw myself at the mercy of this list. [SLE] problems with ttyS?

I keep getting the following message while trying to in install a APC ups. WARNING: /dev/ttyS0 does not appear to be a valid tty. Both ttyS0 and ttyS1 show up in the boot sequance. I'm i missing something in this. [SLE] running named as a special user

Hey, another stupid question. named is started default as root, but id like to run it as the user named (which is included in the etc/passwd) Right now i use /usr/sbin/named -u named and it works fine, after i have chown'd the /var/run to user named so it can save its named.pid there.. I checked thru the suse config and cant find anywhere where it says how to configure what user ndc will start named with.. Also checked the named.conf.. any suggestions.. ? [SLE] Keyboard problem under X with new Motherboard

Greetings, My SuSE 6.4 box has been quite reliable (if a bit slow)running on my TopGun Motherboard with a Cyrix 166+. Yesterday I got a FIC VA-503+ with an AMD K-6II 300 and changed out the systems. All went well ( I didn't even need to roll a new kernel (although I'm going to) except that under X, I loose my keyboard. I tried XDM and KDM, then just startx from runlevel 2. Each time the keyboard light goes out and then the keyboard is useless. I have to reset the machine. Anyone out there have a similar problem? I conceed that it could be the kernel that's rolled for a Cyrix and not an AMD, so I'm about to try rolling a new kernel. Other than that I'm stumped. The XF86config is setup for a standard US generig 101 key keyboard and the same hardware is being used except for the MB and processor. [SLE] Apache not on default port

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help on what is probably a stupid question - or at least point me to the relevent docs. I've just installed SuSE Prof 7. looking at the output of ps -ef I can see that a couple of copies of httpd are running, but I can't seem to reach it. One of the -D parameters was something called midgard (couldn't find any documantation for it) but looking in the conf file I found a comment that it was listening on ports 8099 and 8101, so I tried those ports and lo and behold, I got a page served. It seems to be something to do with docuimentation, but it require MySQL to work properly. Clearly it is running, and I can access it from other machines on the network, so it's not a network problem. Does anyone have any idea why I can't get a response from the default port (80 I think). The first copy of httpd is running as root and the second one as wwwrun, which seems to be right according to my O'reilly Apache book... Assistance would be gratefully received.
