[SLE] Powerlite Notebook (Sparc 5) and keyboard issues

Ok here's a brain teaser.... I am setting up 7.0 on a Powerlite 85 (Sparc 5 85MHz). Everything goes well, the software installs, I can configure X and it works.... now comes the hard question... Upon reboot... The X server will not longer work, and in fact gives me a "cannot open /dev/kbd error 19" and dies. I pondered this all day (several reinstalls) and finally plugged a keyboard in the external port... and everything worked again. I could then unplug it and the system laptop keyboard would continue to work. Then when I reboot, and remove the external keyboard, it would stop working. yes theres something going on. I noticed from the sax thing you can send the file to sax(a)suse.de or something so Im going to do this. [SLE] Can Netscape use local mailbox

I retrieve mail for all accounts on my system to local mailboxes with fetchmail. I use mutt as a mail client myself but have had my wife and kids using kmail, which I'm no longer happy with. I want to set them up to use Netscape Messenger as their mail client. I have had a look at the options which seem to include only POP3 and IMAP. Is it possible to have Messenger retrieve mail from local mailboxes without using POP3? [SLE] Quickie: quota and filesize > 2Gb support in ReiserFS?

Just a quickie: I read a /. thread on journalled fs's and it said about ReiserFS that: - no quota support (showstopper in my case) - 2 Gb filesize limit (due to glibc?) Will this still be the case for Linux 2.4.0-final (or the SuSE variety thereof)? Btw: I use reiserfs at home (suse 6.4) with no problems at all and no perceivable performance loss to ext2 (no increase either) and have had absolutely no problems with it; the production server (suse 6.3) however still uses ext2 and a reboot after a powerfailure last took ca. 12 minutes (2x20 GB scsi) (with no data loss btw). I use quota on this server and no quota support in reiserfs would be a showstopper moving to suse 7.0/reiserfs... [SLE] RW CD solved

Dear all, Just solved my problem with rw cd's. The problem was that these were recorded in Win98 with Adaptec's DirectCD which uses another filesystem, the udf(universal disk format). If you have a similar problem just follow the link: http://www.trylinux.com/projects/udf/index.html After installing the module for the udf filesystem my rw cd's mount fine. OK in case anyone wants to know how to advise an mx card user what to do. ( and Suse really needs to update the support database ) 1) install 7.0 clean 2) removed xfree86 stuff using yast 3) install rpms of xsuse 4.01 from ftp.suse.de 4) follow instructions in readme 5) installed suse nvidia directory as per instructions in readme 6) ran xf86config ( sax and sax2 dont see the mx version of the card ) 7) open /etc/X11/XF86config. and changed driver in device section to nvidia 8) insmod agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1 9) insmod NVdriver 10) xinit -- /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 Important things to note, sax2 ran once, but failed afterwards. It didnt know what the card was. XFree86 -configure doesnt work either. So it was relatively simple except i wouldnt have known to try the parameter on insmod agpgart. ( Id never heard of agpgart until this week ). Also im not sure my 3d stuff is working yet. but I'll wait for 4.02 now.
