[SLE] Missing lines when printing

I am using SuSE 6.2 and printing with an Epson LQ-100 connected to a parallel port. The resolution is set to 180 x180 and I am using the st800 driver (also an ESC/P2 printer). Although the paper size is set to "A4", I am always missing a couple of lines between a page and the next when printing from text or html. When printing from applixwords I always loose the footer numbers. I can not find either in the printing howtos, the printcap man pages or the apsfilter documentation a way for setting the number of lines in the page to a smaller number in order to sort the problem out. Any advice will be wellcomed. [SLE] DOS format tool in SuSE?

Is there something I can run from SuSE 6.3 to format a DOS partition? I need to resize my partitions, which I can do as I install SuSE. But I don't think the normal SuSE install will offer me the prospect of *creating* the DOS filesystem on the newly-created DOS partition, will it? I've backed up the current contents of that machine, over the network to another SuSE machine, including the contents of the DOS partition. I'd like to simply restore those contents, without having to go through the install-from-floppy process for the DOS contents. I can't even be certain those old floppies are viable, and since I've got the backup, I'm hoping there's a way to use it. [SLE] htdig on 6.3

I have upgraded from 6.2 to 6.3. htdig worked perfectly fine on 6.2, however now it gives me an access denied when I try to do a full text retrieval in netscape using the suse help button in KDE. I have read the readme file and set everything up to allow only local users in the access allow file and it still denies everyone. Any help would be appreciated. My system - SuSE 6.3 My printer - Epson Stylus Color 640 *$ cat filename > /dev/lp0 #works fine, but doesn't eject the sheet *$ filename | lpr # gives nothing, nothing in lpc status either *$ a2ps filename # prints well but wants to print too close to the end of the page and so gets cut off. My questions: 1 how can i correct the margins for printing with a2ps? 2 why does lpr not produce anything? I have read everything i could about a2ps, but have found nothing in the /etc/a2ps.conf file that represents the margin specification. I've gone over the GhostScript dox and the /etc/apsfilterrc.stcolor has been changed to some extent but still does not help with the a2ps problem. Which brings me to the next question: 3 How do i know which program is actually carrying out a certain print job? a2ps, gs, apsfilter, or what else...? I am realy quite lost on this one... Of course, i can not get WP8 to print. Netscape only printed the top banner of my web page. Amaya printed everything (graphics, text, colors) perfectly. Kde does nothing. Is there an online book on this topic somewhere? I'd really appreciate any advice any one can give me. [SLE] Two Linux Boxes 1 Printer

I want to set up a printer on my wifes system (running SuSE and StarOffice in Porteguese) Is there a way I can set that Box and mine up to print to the laser attached to it? I am having trouble just getting her's up. I added the Laser in yast and all the settings, but KDE will not print anything. Even the Help system crashes when I select print page. I am using 6.3 and both systems on on the LAN with internal IP's. [SLE] Kmail attachements

Hello, This is not really SuSE related. Anyhow, kmail keeps dumping attachements each into their own seperate folder. /root/.kde/share/apps/kmail/tmp/kmail1392/part2 for instance. I hate this. Is their anyway to force it into one folder only, or is it embedded in the programming?
