[SLE] Mail proxy recommendation?

Hi, Does anyone have a recommendation for a firewall mail proxy(smtp & pop3)? I tried the smtpd rpm from the sec1 selection and was not able to get it to work. The daemon would start and then exit with error 71. Also, smtpd requires sendmail anyway. I thought there would be a simpler solution than sendmail or postfix. I've tried two other packages. Pop3dwg won't compile, it complains about not being able to size a struct defined in time.h. The aproxy program looked good(it's in perl) but it won't write out a log file and won't accept any connections(tested with firewall disabled). Hey all... Been away for a while, but I'm back now... This may sound like a strange reply, but I may have a workaround for you. Please understand that what I am saying is a very generalized comments, especially since I have never owned a Gravis soundcard of any type... 1. Is this card Plug-n-Play(Pray)? 2. Do you know the address(s) that are being assigned to the joystick interface under Windows (Look in the Device Manager tab under the System icon in the Windows Control Panel) In my experience with both Linux and BeOS, I have had several types of cards ranging from Network adapters to soundcards that refuse to work because they have not been set up correctly. I usually use a DOS driver to initalize the card, and then use loadlin to boot into the Operating System (Yes, you can boot BeOS this way as well, at least my old outdated 4.0 version - I am buying 4.5 this morning BTW)... I recently purchased a motherboard on the cheap that has an onboard SoundPro soundcard that doesn't initalize, even under DOS.... Not ever the joystick interface... So, by running the DOS driver in order to set the card up, and then boot Linux, you might get the card to show up as well as its various compnets... You can also do some `fun and games' hacking on the /etc/isapnp.conf as well as playing around with isapnp tools... Or, if the card does show up, do you have the physical I/O addresses and other resources used by the joystick port inserted into the module correctly when you call it at load time? Hope this helps... [SLE] At&T @home formerly TCI @home cable modems in linux

Hi all, Thanks for the reply I have received for my problem. Now I have start ypbind in debug mode, and get the following output: /sbin/init.d/ypclient start Starting ypbindcleared entry for domain bagus.hawedo.com: server 0.0.0.0, port 0parsing config file Trying entry: ypserver 192.168.1.1 parsed ypserver 192.168.1.1 bindto_server: domain bagus.hawedo.com, host 192.168.1.1 clnt_create for server 192.168.1.1 failed I have set up both server and client with YAST. But using YAST to set up YP SERVER does not ask for YP SERVER NAME? Where do I set the YP sever name on the server site. I have used my server host name and ip number on the client site, /etc/yp.conf. Sometimes I get also an error output which says host 192.168.1.1 (my server ip number) is not served by bagus.hawedo.com. Can somebody help me out. [SLE] Personal Laser Printers

I have worked too long in the Networking of Graphic Design shops. I am loosing touch with the personal gear. I need a recomendation for a personal printer for the house....I was looking at buying a refurb H/P What I like is the 5l & 6l because of the footprint (I have 5 systems packed into the bedroom) I am aware there are models that have the Jetdirect built in and all that, I am wondering though if anyone has experience with this guy? I see a lot of them being sold on Ebay; are they junk? In cases I observed so far, no service truly _requires_ an indent reply, if none is received, it just stops waiting and proceeds normally. The trick is to not let callers wait. [SLE] 6.3 PS/2 MC boot disk?

Well, while looking for something in my basement, I found my old IBM PS/2 model 77 (486 66 MHz, 32 MB memory). This machine uses a Micro Channel bus, has an IBM SCSI card, 3COM EtherLink/MC card and XGA-2 video card. I would like to convert this machine from a dust collecting object to a firewall. I thought it is going to be easy, but it seems that none of the SuSE 6.3 boot disks would support this architecture. I did find a web site with Suse 6.0 and 6.1 boot disks that are supposed to work with the above combination. Now my questions: 1) Is there a 6.3 boot disk I can use? 2) Can I use a 6.1 boot disks to install 6.3 on this machine? For instance through ftp to my other machine?
