[SLE] Again with the wvdial woes....

Okay, I had this one licked but now it's come back to haunt me. I'm using wvdial on my SuSE box at home to dial my ISP. It was working fine (except for mysterious messages about not being able to modify PAP secrets and CHAP secrets, but it still worked) untill last night. I recompiled my kernel from the sources on the 6.2 disk. I didn't change any of the networking functions except the ones I knew I didn't need. I run wvdial and it seems to connect as usual, but I can't ping anything (tried suse.com and intel) and Netscape gave me what seemed to be DNS related errors (Couldn't find host, check name, blah,blah). I double checked the resolve.conf file and my nameservers are there. I double checked my group info and I am part of the dialup and modem groups. [SLE] K6-II upgrade

Hi, as I've got no manuals,is K6 CPU replacing just a detach-attach proc. (after detaching the cooler :-) and configuring the jumper) or do I need to work on other config sides? [SLE] /dev/pts ?

Can someone tell me what /dev/pts is? Since i recompiled the kernel, i get a start-up warning that it is not installed. Is this a problem? Hope you got this sorted - assuming you can see your tape drive hanging off the scsi bus, try using Arkeia, the backup program in PAY. It's pretty good, keeps a database of all backups, & has a nice "megabyteometer" for those that like gimmicky interfaces :)). The installation on SuSE 6.3 even works ! BTW, you can dld the latest version as glibc 2.2 rpms from www.knox-software.com for free. If it's any help, try xfsft instead. Here's a link to a great page detailing how to set up ttfs for use in Star Office & any other X app,http://www.mindspring.net/%7Ejohn_mcl/adding_fonts.html All the progs are downloadable from there in a tarball. [SLE] LPD under 6.3

The LPD daemon keeps dying - every time I print I have to "lpd restart". I note the SDB has an entry for "Problem with network printers with SuSE 6.3" which recommends reinstalling the 6.2 version of lprold. Has anyone experienced this restart problem with lpd ? Does the 6.2 version fix it ? BTW, anybody note problems with DeskJet 550c drivers under 6.3 as well, producing corrupt prints ?
