[SLE] Newbie questions -Part 3

Hi all Thanks for the quick response from various people. I had a problem getting an SiS6326 vga card to work. Various solutions where suggested which unfortunately didn't seem to work with my installation. I couldn't seem to get more than 16 colours :-( Anyway I trashed the Sis and got hold of a S3 Virge, installed the card and everything was fine, except I still couldn't get more than 16 colours. While messing around in YAST I accidentally discovered that the SVGA server isn't installed by default, when installed I suddenly had access to 256+ colours and SVGA server. Anyway my point is I only came accros this by accident, the manual doesn't (or I couldn't find it) make reference to installing additional servers. Please don't flame me for this but any other newbies having basic problems like mine, play with YAST and the solutions probably hidden in there somewhere. Anyway time to try and get a mail client to work with Suse and give Bill G the elbow. [SLE] Window Maker

As a result of my Shockwave w/ KDE problems I have started experimenting with a project I had left on my To-Look-At List. That is, Gnome with another Window Manager, such as Window Maker. [SLE] How many CDs?

How many CDs were actually in the 6.1 SuSE distro? This is the how-to I've already copied and read. What i need to know is if i should just disregard the fact that suse has set up everything in /var/named/ differently than everything I've read so far. Also, I suppose it's not possible to set up the DNS server through yast? thanks, rhm P.S. [SLE] Shockwave somewhat solved

Well, thanks to those that responsed to my Shockwave problems. Seems it was/is KDE that is at fault. Trying a different Window Manager and the latest version of Shockwave works. [SLE] Adaptec AHA-2940U2W

Hi fellow followers of the cute lizard! Has anyone had opportunity to try the Adaptec AHA-2940 U2W with SuSE 6.2? Or does anybody know if this controller is supported yet? Wanting to upgrade one of my systems soon and have to decide which type SCSI drives/controllers to utilyze. I'm also hearing about SuSE 6.3. Hey Lenz, what's it got that 6.2 doesn't? I should have mentioned also that the error message I get whiel trying to access man pages through susehelp is Netscape: Error A network error occurred while Netscape was receiving data. (Network Error: Connection reset by peer) Try connecting again. I think it is reasonable to warn people to make sure when setting up the doc server that only one web server is running, and I am going to email SuSE to that effect. After all, they explicitly refused to answer questions about this feature, and nobody else had any idea. Dear people, I posted a message previously about the fact that I had difficulties setting up my doc server and running htdig. Well, the problem was very simple, but it took me a while to figure out. You see, when I originally installed the distribution in early Sept, I instructed that everything be installed. In particular, three different web servers were installed and were set running automatically at bootup. They were Syrix (commercial demo version), Apache and something called thttpd.
