[SuSE Linux] non-root mount problem

Hi! Thanks for the help with my KMail problems! It now works perfectly! However, I have a new problem... It seems that only the superuser can mount my cdrom. That's not really a problem for me, since I almost always is logged in as root, but I have set up an ordinary useraccount for my boyfriend. I have read the manpage for mount and followed the instructions there, but it doesn't work anyway. It is really annoying since I refuse to give away my root-password. Thought some of you might be interested in this. It's for 6.0 though and is glibc based, but I know we have German list members who are probably using 6.0 now. However the directory structure used in the WindowMaker 0.50.2 RPM was chosen to fit into a SuSE system and might differ from the standards used by other distributions. I am pretty sure it will do fine with 85, do you know how to modify it directly in XF86Config so that I set it up to 85 Hz? You could also just try to do it directly in XF86config, but I always use SAX or XF86Setup because it will test it before writing the new config file. [SuSE Linux] WindowMaker Sound

Hello, I was wondering whether anyone who got wmsound working could help me. I have installed wmsound as far as I know. But, whenever a sound event is supposed to play, I get "Error on sound event". I have traced the problem to nmaker. If I try to play a sound with nmaker (which came with wmsound), I get this error. I am using wmaker 0.50.2 and the oss sound drivers. It is true that you have to run lilo after a kernel compile, but if you just make sure that the lilo.conf of both distributions are identical, it should not matter which of the distros does the updating of lilo. If you have your SuSE partition mounted in RH you could make RH's lilo.conf a symlink to SuSE's. This way the two would always be identical. (I haven't tested this, but it should work) Good luck with the dual distro, and please report back whether my suggestions work. [SuSE Linux] gtk+

I have been having a heck of a time upgrading from the gtk+ and glib that comes with suse 5.3 to the newest versions. I need to so that I can compile *most* of the new gtk based apps. I can compile and install but every compilation fails the gtk app test. I guess that means that old libs are laying around and being found instead of the new one. I tried rpm -e to get rid of the packages to no avail. How in the world can I cleanly upgrade? It's the old libc5 vs. glibc2 problem. Didn't the rpm's refuse to install and give a warning that there were "failed dependencies"? I went to ftp.kde.org and downloaded the KDE 1.1pre1 set or RPMs for Redhat 5.x since there were none in the SuSE directory! When I installed the base package, it screwed my K instalation to the point it wouldn't go pass the log on point. removing that and instaling an older package meant for SuSe helped the problem.
