[S.u.S.E. Linux] Networking with the Printer Port!

hi, I want to connect my 2x linux boxes together via parallel port. how can i do that? which communication protocol do i need? I've applied 0.2.9 against kernel 2.0.33 a month ago. It worked One thing to watch out is that you should only applied it once and only once. The undo operation does not always remove all the duplications. I repeated the patches as it did not look like it worked at first (I was not able to mount the FAT32 partition). I was not sure what the question meant. (I figured out after I got all the duplications that it was asking me what I wantd to do when it found the patches might have been applied). The sources and documentation all got messed up. Anyhow it turned out that the patched kernel was OK all along but I was trying to mount the wrong partition all the time. I had a 5G extended FAT32 partition on at the beginning of /dev/hd3. It showed up as the 5th partition on the device under linux. That was the one I had to mount instead of /dev/hd3a. I could not find anything on the documentation about what to mount, but the error message did kind of implicitly suggest that I was mounting partition which I shouldn't. I did not realized it really meant it because I got the same message before and after the patch. Anyway I worked fine afterwards. I also turned my other drive to FAT32 afterwards as Microsoft advocated it under Windows98. The DOS partition on this drive was 2G and installed as a primary, I could simply mount /dev/hd1a. It is nice to be able to access all the DOS partitions. It's good for storage and transferring of stuff across. However, linking and permissions are not supported in DOS partitions. I tried to install executable packages on DOS partition directly, it does not work if it needs links or sticky bits. Therefore we need need a good size linux partition. [S.u.S.E. Linux] 3 Button Emulation

Hello SuSE Users; I recently got the SuSE and intalled it on my computer. I think I have a problem with XWindows. The problem is I cannot higlight a text and paste by using both mouse buttons together. It does work on a console, but not on Xwindows. I have a Microsoft Intellimouse (activated threebutton emulation), or whatever (there is a wheel in the center), STB Velocity 128 Video Card (Using XFree86 3.3.2 ). Any help will be appreciated. I tried to Partion as suggested, but when I wanted to install the Premium package there was less then 5pace warning. Is there a way of disabling some packages before installation? I tryed to contact the SuSE info departement a short week ago to get some feedback on issues compared to Red Hat (that I tested) and to decide if going for the SuSE distributions is a thing to do. However, either the information departement has been murdered, taken hostige by Marsians (on assignment for B.G. of M$), or desolved, but even a second message hasn't given any results. Which is why I hope a posting to the mailinglist will generate some feedback. So, fire up your boxes, caress the keyboards and please send me what you know concerning the questions I have about certain details of SuSE's Linux version: The original mail: --> I am into digital picture treatement so one of the points that make your distribution interesting are the sane scanner dirvers and gimp included in the package. Next to all the other graph application. I have been playing around with Red Hat a bit just to get the idea of Linux. This, however has raised a few questions I would like to get some feedback on: Does your distribution support the Iomega's // Zip like Red Hat's ver 5 does? The installation under Red Hat goes via SCSI support + installation of the ppa driver. Does your distribution have a support for easy managing of modules like Red Hat does with their "kerneld" utility which allows to load/unload modules easely? This is very usefull while using the // Zip and a printer. The ppa driver blocks namely the // port and printing is impossible. Loading/unloading it would be very usefull. <--- In reference to this mail I would like to add: How does the techsupport by e-mail work since it takes them a lot of time not to answer customer maill!? Since my written German is bad - no practice anymore - I wasn't able to post it in that language. This is not Linux related. (Well, I *am* using Star Office on SuSE.) I'm writing a paper on Quantum Physics, and I want to say that physics has a tom cat. As I remember, having a tom cat is slang for having a hangover. I don't remember what form of the article I should use. I think it would be "Physik hat einer Kater". Can someone tell me if this is correct? In case you are wondering, I am talking about Schroedinger's cat paradox.
