I also had similar problems setting up my USR Sportster Flash. (The problem seemed to go away by itself...) I was given a number of Initialisation strings by kind people on the list - but, for what its worth, whether I used a long complicated string or just "ATZ" didn't seem to make any difference! [SuSE Linux] Need pppd hints please

I did a install (the one for the newbie) and it installed everything successfully. I had some problem with the X, but sax took care of that problem. However, my PPPD daemon wont start automatically. My modem is configured just correct---I can run minicom and get modem tone (I even get the authentication too) and atz passes ok. But there's no PPP. Under KDE, the utility that holds info for all the services, doesn't include PPP(BTW, Never knew there could be something that awesome window manager out and people dying for some other crap) anyway, it seems to me that I did not load the PPP package because I don't have /etc/suseppp find / -name suseppp (No file or Directory) How/where can I install that package from? (Which CD?) What would be the easiest way---I would like to know if there's anything under KDE to install it easily? Ah, just tell me anyway to resolve this issue:) Thanks ahead. **************************************************** Second problem is not priority at the moment, but if you happen to have the answer, please tell me how can I resolve this. when I login as my user account, I type startx (it takes me to K Desktop) When I login as root and type startx (it takes me to fvwm2)---if I manually try to run KDE, it will give me error message (can't remember the error message) I configured it 3-4 times using SAX and everytime it finds my adapter and everything. Do I have to edit any file like /etc/securetty or add one? [SuSE Linux] Mouse troubles in X

I have a two button Microsoft PS/2 mouse (the bottom of the mouse says it is a Mouse Port Compatible mouse, but I have it in my PS/2 connector). In sax, under the mouse tab's test area, when I click the left button, the left square on test-area diagram turns black. When i click the right button, the right square turns black. When i click the the two buttons together, the middle square turns black. This is what i expected to happen. When i start X, though, the right button on my mouse acts as the middle button, and I have to click the two buttons together to get the right-button functionality (which i use frequently in KDE).
