[SuSE Linux] libjpeg.so.62.rpm

I installed libjpeg.so.62.rpm from <A HREF="ftp://redhat.labs"><A HREF="ftp://redhat.labs</A">ftp://redhat.labs</A</A>>. Now when i try to start x i get the following error: " libjpeg.6.0 not found" and the X session doesn't start I tried rpm -U libjpeg.so.62.rpm, but it seems that the new installation deletes the older one without updating any links. So, my question is how shall i link the new libraries. Which file i have to edit? Should i just run ldconfig or SuSEconfig? Or there is something else i have to do? no its not normal. been on the list about a month , so far spamed twice. this seems to be the axeption form all the niose on the list. Its goining on on other lists as well. Dont know why , but its not just the suse list. Considering the volume , its just an anoyance. I remember years back , someone wrote a program on an empty 1/2 gig drive full of 1 and 0 and sent it back as an attachment. I dont think ist legal any more . I have managed to get Suse 5.3 onto a Toshiba Libretto 50 ct I have a few questions ... 1. Are there any programs available to use infra-red comms i.e. connect to a mobile phone etc (I recently purchased a copy of Nokia Data Suite for Win this seems to install what I think are software modems (Nokia Data/Fax modem and Nokia Voice) and allows me too download and add/modify entries in my mobile phone 'address book' as well as give me real time signal and battery indicators..is there something for Linux..) 2. On 5.3 within Yast there is a package for toshiba machines I selected this as part of the build , What are the features ? and how do I install? 3. How do you setup the HylaFax Server and SUSE_client 4. Has anyone managed to get the Oracle 8 Pre-release Db working... p.s. KDE on the Libretto looks Cooool! [SuSE Linux] ttys* problems

hello all, i have my modem installed on cua3 irq10 and everything works fine. after reading that the `cua' convention is being dumped entirely for `ttys' i began thinking that i should set up my modem and ppp stuff to look for the modem at ttys3. ok, the problem is that when i boot up Linux (SuSE 5.3) reports that ttys3 has irq3 (default setting which is not irq10 where my modem really is). does anyone know how i can go about changing this? i was able to change the cua3 previously to use irq10 instead of its default option, but can find nowhere to change the ttys3 setting likewise. thanks, dave - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo(a)suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

As to your problem, check the help file that comes with the kppp app. There should be help button right on the interface which will bring up HTML. There's a section that describes what might be wrong when this message pops up. My problem, I fear, is more complex. I have version 5.3 and am using kppp to try to get the connection up. Without posting all my /etc files, I'll briefly explain the dilema. The modem is a 3Com Impact IQ ISDN terminal adapter connected on ttyS1. The modem init string and dial commands are all correct. I get a connect and the ppp interface is started. But after that, I can only ping the remote address and none beyond that. ifconfig states that ppp0 is active and route states that ppp0 is the default route. The normal network configs floating around do not work with my system because the machine is also connected to an ethernet. Please HELP! Yes, if you mean the AMI MegaRAID card. SuSE kernel 2.0.36 supports MegaRAID or you can patch the SuSE 2.0.35 kernel with a file that is on AMI web site. The file is for RedHat Linux, but the patch worked fine in SuSE 5.3 version of the 2.0.35 kernel. Also, try using alphanumeric strings in for your password. PERSONALLY I also don't permit root to telnet in.
