I agree with Zentara - recompile it yourself and it should work a treat! My RPMs failed a few times before I went down this route. Once it was compiled it worked first time. Does system commander work with older bios'? I've got a 500 meg limit but a 5gb drive. Does it work like 'ontrack'? If it works I'll buy it today! [SuSE Linux] A few problems..

Hey there. Recently, my whole Linux system died a violent death after I'd been in OS/2 a couple of times. That made be really pissed off, so OS/2 is off this machine now. I have a pretty good setup again now, but currently two problems I need help with: x11amp says: bind: Address already in use accept: Invalid argument . . . . accept: Invalid argument forever, when I am a normal user -- or at least when I am the user martin. Haven't tried as anyone else though. root is fine, however. chmod a+s x11amp doesn't improve matters one bit. I never had this problem before?!? Hints? Solutions? Pleaaaaaaaaaase?!? ;) Item 2: WWWOFFLE doesn't seem to be able to find the Internet name server, it says: WWWOFFLE Remote Host Error Your request for URL <A HREF="http://www.jubii.dk/"><A HREF="http://www.jubii.dk/</A">http://www.jubii.dk/</A</A>> failed because Cannot open the HTTP connection to www.jubii.dk port 80; [Name Lookup Authoritative Answer Host not found]. This error message has now been deleted from the cache Reloading this page will cause it to be re-requested. I have a DNS entry in /etc/resolv.conf and I can fetch and send mail just fine. What needs to be done to make wwwoffle happy? I have a feeling I could shave a lot of online time off, if this thing would work with me ;) Other that that, everything's peachy. Very much looking forward to SuSE Linux 6.0 (I don't suppose you have time to put on WP8, do you?). [SuSE Linux] LI instead of lilo !!

Hello! Can anyone help me please. When I try to boot from the HD i get only LI and than things stop - I dont know what could be the error - I have checked out the lilo.conf and everything is ok ?? Any clues what might I have to look up and fix for lilo to work ? [SuSE Linux] WP8 Printing Problem

Anyone have any problems printing through WP8? I don't have any problems with any other program other than WP8. So the address ;must be less than 1024. I guess I didn't make myself clear. I understand what the 1024 limit is. I did what the SDB said to do... that is to make a 2mb partiton mounted at /boot. I had no problems installing at all, everything went smooth... It setup lilo with not snags at all. The problem came about when i wanted to compile my own kernel and install via yast. Yast kept reporting that the hdd was too large (the 1024 limit error message) and it refused to setup the kernel. At this point I simply got out of yast, fired up emacs (actually jove:), and edited the lilo.conf myself. All I had to do was change the kernel to be booted. After that I typed 'lilo' at the prompt and it accepted it. I guess what I really wanted to know was why yast couldn't do such a simple task. [SuSE Linux] [S.u.S.E. Linux], KPPP, Connection Speed & Dial Up Connections

I run S.u.S.E. Linux 5.3 on a Gateway "SOLO" 2500 Laptop and connect to US West Interact via KPPP and then boot Netscape. Interact has just bumped up to v.90 56k and when using my Macintosh either via MacOS 8.1 or Netscape in Windows within Vitual PC I connect first time every time at speeds often at 48000, sometimes lower, like 38 or 31 k in times of heavy traffic. But using the same line, and my Linux Laptop with an internal PCMCIA v.90/56k modem, I have two unexplainable problems: 1.) I usually have to try to connect 5 or 6 times before I get a connection that doesn't drop the pppd and times-out. But once the connection is made... 2.) My connection speed is always 31000 0r 28000, even though I have selected 56000 in KPPP. Why these two problems? Are they related? Do I have to enter 56000k somewhere besides KPPP? And I read something about slowing down Linux connect attempt rates to get more dependable connections? This wasn't the same thing as baud rates. What is this about. [SuSE Linux] Suse 5.3 & switching mouse buttons

To All: I am using Suse 5.3, and would like to change my mouse button mapping on a Logitech Trackman Marble FX: I want to swap the left and middle buttons (I find I get much less thumb discomfort when I use the middle button as the LMB; and the lower, left real button as the occasional middle button) At present it works fine in standard R handed 3 button mode (PS2). To switch buttons - xmodmap -e "pointer = 2 1 3" --> this works just fine if I run it in an xterm window once I have kde or fvwm up and running. However, I would like to place it in the proper startup file so it automatically takes hold before starting a console window; and before starting an X server/windows manager combination. I would also like this to work when I log on either as root , or as a regular user. I have looked at the following file locations: /etc/profile /etc/rc.config etc/skel/.xinitrc ~/.xinitrc What are the appropriate files for inserting the xmodmap line - considering the logon options I am considering? (root/user, console/X) Any suggestions or pointers to appropriate help files, howto's, URL's would be much appreciated - I have already done some research, but no joy so far. Can someone tell me why yast can not configure lilo correctly with large HDD's (1024 limit)? I can edit the lilo.conf file and run lilo myself with no problems. [SuSE Linux] PPP Activity Stops - X

Hey, I run wvdial to connect to my ISP using PPP and PAP. The problem is, whenever I am downloading something and X blanks the screen, the download stops entirely. Is there any reason why this would be happening (and a fix)?
