You could simply edit the /etc/fstab file and add something like the following:
/dev/sdc /zip hfs noauto,user 0 0
This makes my SCSI ZIP accessible (3rd device on chain). I mount it with:
mount /zip
----ORIGINAL----

Do you have
CONFIG_HFS_FS=y
in your kernel configuration?
If not, do so or compile the driver as a module.
