The iBook G3 come with a white LED that's active if the device sleeps.
On 10.2 during installation you seem to misuse it to signal hard disk
activity. How can I disable it?

Hello. I guess I got this error from Totem thanks to not having
installed ffmpeg:
The playback of this movie requires the following decoders which
are not installed:
AC-3 (ATSC A/52) decoder
H.264 decoder
However this error message is still there after I installed ffmpeg
package from packman. I know it is impossible to playback some codec on
PPC because of lack of binary compatibility to codecs compiled for x86,
example being some WMV video. However is this the case? Should I install
some more package or is it impossible to playback on PPC?
The video I am trying to play is .mkv format
A page on opensuse.org:
http://opensuse-community.org/Restricted_Formats/11.1
suggested me to codecs-gnome.ymp, which I did, installed every package
except those who are not available for PPC, the result is I still could
not playback the .mkv file. I have a dozen files in this format that
playback fine on other machine using vlc, excluding corrupted file
possibility.

Hello. OpenSuSE 11.1 playback sound as if for every second of sound, the
later 1/2 second sound is played back twice. It sounds seriously broken
and takes one third more time to finish the playback. This happens to
every mp3 audio file I have, including those plays fine on other
computers. I tried to use totem and vlc, both playback exactly the same
broken sound. I also tried switching audio output device between
pulseaudio, alsa and oss with no difference between them.
Where do you suggest me to further look at to track down the problem?
Thanks for hints.

Hello. I have problem accessing online banking from iBook G4/opensuse.
It uses applet and it works fine on my friends iBook G3 running Gentoo
Linux and IBM jre. I noticed opensuse installed icedtea instead, so I am
thinking if I can install IBM jre it would solve the problem.
However I couldn't find sun jre in package repository, in all of
powerpc.opensuse.org oss/non-oss repositories and in packman. A google
search of how to use ibm-jre in opensuse finds my own post asking
similar question 3 year ago which failed by that time:
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2006-07/msg01965.html
Am I advised to go to IBM website download and install jre in RPM
version? Or should I add other package repositories or where to find a
pre-packaged ibm jre? What do you try in this case?
Thanks in advance.

This looks unlike opensuse-specific issue but since I am a poor stupid
user I don't know where to file a bug (which project's fault for this
problem) and don't have further time (having a stacking list of todo
list that drives me crazy) to contribute on solving this issue, so I
just describe it here and hoping someone with knowledge working with
opensource projects pick up the problem and report it & follow up until
it is fixed. Here I only describe my experience.
In Gnome keyboard properties, if I leave model untouched (which is
"Macintosh"), select Italy as language, the keyboard layout would be
different than my Italian iBook G4's keyboard.
The keyboard layout of mine:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:KB_Italian.svg
However the modifier keys seems to be correct, "Command" buttons mapped
to Alt_L (I tell this from xev).
If I choose "Apple Laptop" as keyboard model and Italy as language, the
keyboard layout would be the same as my Italian iBook G4's keyboard.
However the modifiers keys seems to be incorrect, "Command" buttons
mapped to Super_L where I expect it mapped to Alt_L.
So *I either gets incorrect keyboard layout mapping or gets incorrect
modifier keys mapping*.
The solution would be .Xmodmap. The first time I created .Xmodmap and
then login to gnome session, gnome asks me if I wish to load the
configuration, and ask me if it should ask me again next time. (the
dialog user interface is organized a bit different than usual case, the
list of chosen file to load is on the left and the list of available
files to load is on the right, opposite from conventional UI that the
chosen are on the right side.) I choose to load .Xmodmap and to not to
ask me again next time. I /assume/, this means the next time when I
login, .Xmodmap will be loaded without asking me. Consider the context
this is the assumption every other user makes. In fact when I login the
2nd time .Xmodmap will not be loaded and users are not given the
question if to load the file. I had to add to gnome session properties
to run "xmodmap .Xmodmap".
Now the problem is solved. I think this means there are two problems:
* Something is wrong with the pre-defined key mapping (otherwise it
should work "out of the box" or only asking user to choose the
language of the layout)
* Something is wrong with gnome's way of loading .Xmodmap (otherwise
there should be way to make it always loads .Xmodmap without
customized gnome-session)
You can ask me if I were not clear in my case. Thanks in advance if you
try to report & follow or kill these problems.

Guys,
After waiting almost 3 hours for all the packager to install I am face
with the issue that it can't find the image for the boot loader, it
was there when I started, but it not showing up now. And I have no
clue how to fix this.
