The iBook G3 come with a white LED that's active if the device sleeps.
On 10.2 during installation you seem to misuse it to signal hard disk
activity. How can I disable it?

Hi,
I looked for output from factory to install om my PPC.
The place I looked into was: powerpc.opensuse.org/factory/iso/
which still contained the .iso file I downloaded and tried to
install 10 days ago with no success (it doesn't boot).
My question is: Do I look in the right place? If that is correct
I will just check thee directory from time to time. If not,
where should I look?
greetings,
Klaas.

Hi,
I just got informed that openSUSE Factory is again building
against PowerPC.
So while there is no distro as of now, Factory could be tested
and used. (Or even snapshotted.)
Ciao, Marcus

Just got this answer from a bugzilla
posting(https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=557580) from
Michael Loeffler about why there wasn't a PPC version of 11.2:
"we (Novell/SUSE employees) won't provide a ppc distribution anymore. The effort
for such a code stream is not justified by 0.3% out of all installations (see
Distribution of architecture at http://en.opensuse.org/Statistics).
Nevertheless we will support anyone who'd like to take over the task to build
an openSUSE ppc distribution."
So, what's the interest in trying to keep the PowerPC port alive?
With such a small user base, I agree it doesn't make sense for them to
continue to do it(although I was under the impression that the POWER
port of SLEx was based on openSUSE so I'm not sure what the status of
that is going to be either).
I have several viable Powermacs that can run openSUSE. Peter Czanik
uses it on a Pegasos PPC machine.
So, what's the interest? I'm not sure how much help I can be other
than testing but I'd like to find out who else is using or wanting to
use openSUSE on PPC.
Thanx

It was said on the ppc mailinglist, that there will be no install DVD
release for opensuse 11.2.
It was recommended to use the factory netinstall image.
How is it possible to use that image to install the factory distribution
on a Playstation 3?
Or was opensuse 11.1 the last possible version?
There are no announcements anywhere regarding this issue.
On the Playstation 3 installation page at:
http://en.opensuse.org/Playstation_3
The following is stated:
openSUSE 11.1 Other OS Bootloader
Note: available on full installation media only (not on Mini CD for
Network install)
So there is no possibility to have an opensuse beyond 11.1 on Playstation
3?

I opened a bug report about it since I can't seem to get any answer as
to the status of PowerPC support. It's here:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=557580
Maybe we will get an answer soon.

LS,
Can someone in the know (Marcus?) please give a
description how to get an openSuse 11.2 install
om a PPC, PowerMac G5 1.8 dual in my case.
I downloaded the one CD from the repository, it
was dated oktober. It would not boot. I am totally
confused about the use of Factory. So please some
coaching and handholding and maybe I can get some
use out of this beast (the most expensive and least
usable Mac that I bought).
There is an openSuse 11.1 system on it, but corrupt
it keeps reloading the desktop. Waited for 11.2
and now this.

In download:
openSUSE only supports PCs with 32Bits and 64 Bits.
Does this mean that I can stop looking for a PPC distribution?
