Hi,
At the openSUSE Conference, Zonker said that he wishes for the
community to help him decide what events will be financed from the
Marketing budget in 2010.
I wanted to know if you guys have decided when and how will we be able
to submit proposals for this selection process?
Thanks,
Andrei

Hi Ricardo,
The background colors of the cover use the standard colors of openSUSE and therefore if i put the logo without a diferent background color then its not easy recognised. For that reason the plain white gecko is there (it can be a white circle too or something like that if wanted).
Just check a test of the cover without the white background behind the logo
http://ragecryx.googlepages.com/openSUSE_11.2_DVDWrap_NEW_testest.png
Only "SUSE" is 100% visible, the rest of the logo "blends" with the background colors.

With 11.2 coming up and a number of us feeling our way around with
existing and new social network services, I think now is a good time for
us to plan on having an online Hackfest to cover all our bases.
At the openSUSE Conference, we discussed a number of things we should be
doing during some of our Marketing sessions. We identified that we
really need to start re-tweeting each other on the microblogging sites.
We also identified that we should start creating a directory on the wiki
listing all of us who participate in social networking services and what
our account names are so we can follow each other.
So, I'd like to propose a mini Hackfest day possibly for this coming
Tuesday, November 3rd to tackle all of this and any other new ideas
people have. Let's come up with an optimal time of day that most of us
can be online. Alrighty?
Thanks,

Can't you just compress it and upload as a tar. Not necessary to view it on the
wiki.

As preliminarily announced last week, we will be having an online Social
Networking Hackfest for openSUSE on Tuesday, November 3rd in
#opensuse-marketing IRC channel on Freenode.
The time has now been set, and will commence at 14:00 UTC
(http://bit.ly/JKvpw to see the time in your local area).
Topics to be covered:
- Discussion of Tips and Tricks and Strategy in an ever-fast-changing
social networking world.
- Documentation of above Tips and Tricks, information about all the
social networks we should be participating in.
- Creation of a master directory on our wiki so users can enter their
information for potential followers.
- How to disseminate information to regional language-specific social
networks?
We started working on http://en.opensuse.org/Marketing/SocNet during
Community Week earlier this year. This will be our primary work area
during Tuesday's hackfest. If you are unable to attend Tuesday's event,
please feel free to visit the pages and make additions, corrections, or
email us your comments.
Thanks, and looking forward to seeing you there or hearing from you
before then!

Hi Joe,
Is it possible to get the announcements 1-2 days before their release
to translate them?
I really like the way how Mozilla do. Their announcements release same
time on 10-30 different languages (regarding volunteers work). Without
synchronized release, the online press get the English versions and
the (mis)translate or cut them. If we have localized versions on the
same time they could use that one.
thanks

Hey all,
Gareth emailed today to formally invite openSUSE to SCALE and also
remind us about the Call for Papers here:
http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale8x/scale-8x-call-papers
How many openSUSE folks do we have that will be able to attend SCALE?
Best,
Zonker
