Hello OpenSUSE-Team,
The 14th LinuxDay in Dornbirn/Austria will take place on Nov. 24th 2012.
We are seeking proposals for lectures (german). Interested speakers are
invited to submit their proposals until Sep. 23rd.
Details can be found here:
http://www.linuxday.at/call-for-papers-2012
We are also interested in an openSUSE both.
Ambassadors who want to contribute, please contact papers(a)linuxday.at!
If none of the german speaking Ambassador finds the time to come to
Dornbirn, which unfortunately happend last year, we would at least like
to have some 12.2 DVD's to give away on LinuxDay (if that is possible).
Greetings from Austria,
Xela

Heya all,
A reminder: PC Pro magazine is crowd-sourcing their Linux coverage, a
great chance to add some Green to a largely Ubuntu-centric magazine!
Bruo Canning (in CC) has already done an awesome job on the page about
openSUSE and I did some additions myself but a bit of review and fine
tuning won't hurt.
Remember, we have the openSUSE Talking points which could be very helpful:

This link takes you directly to the page:

Hi All,
Just wanted to give a heads up that the counter that was posted
yesterday in G+ is working. I was thinking maybe just leave it as the
last post until after release so it stays there at the top of the
list?

Hi,
First, sorry for replying to another thread, hope it won't mess you
email client.
I want to share a small openSUSE brand awareness success story with you.
Last month I was in Washington for Wikimania and in one of the days I
went to visit the Capitol wearing my openSUSE T-shirt. While I was
waiting at the ticket counter, a guy from the Capitol police came to
me and said: „hey, are you using opensuse?”
I said yes and he continued: „it'a great os, i love it because i don't
have all those problems with viruses.”
I was very happy to see people on the street recognised our brand and
were aware they could interact with us.

Hi all,
openSUSE 12.2 will be released on Sept 5th, so there are only about 3
weeks left.
To prepare a proper press release we need to collect the most
interesting new features of 12.2.
For collecting them we need help. So if you know of any
super-duper-high-end-brand-new things that are on 12.2 and should go
into a press release feel free to add them to
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Major_features
A good source for finding more product highlights might be
http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss/ChangeLog
If you are coltish, feel free to read
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Product_highlights_writing
and help us to bring the collected items in a proper form
Sorry for the cross post,
Christopher

Well, I'm not happy yet. Of the machines available to me ( Dell, HP
Workstations; Dell, HP, and Lenovo business laptops, and a home-build
AMD Fusion-based HTPC) only the Lenovo T60p (which is ancient) booted
properly on RC2. Amazingly enough, it boots to a desktop via a live USB
stick in <12 seconds.
I spent 4 hours monkeying with compiling proprietary drivers and
tweaking grub options to get a graphical boot (the open-source driver
apparently doesn't support Fusion APUs, or didn't in RC2).
So, everywhere else, I'll still running Tumbleweed, and honestly I'm a
bit afraid for Sept. 5.
... but to your point ...
GNOME 3.4 offers *huge* improvements in usability and customization, and
I'm looking forward to using it everywhere.
