Hello friends!
I want to do a presentation, that compares openSUSE with Fedora. I tried
to install the DVD-version of Fedora 14 "Laughlin" on a virtual machine,
and I think, it will be nice to compare the two biggest rpm-distros with
each other.
So, for everyone who wants to help:
* I need some people who tests Fedora for a day and write a short text
about it.
* I need some people who tests openSUSE for a day and write a short text
about it.
* I need some people who tests Rawhide for a day and write about it.
* I need some people who tests Factory for a day and write about it.
So far, I´m looking forward to a hopefully nice presentation about it!

Have you tried SUSE Studio? Need to create a Live CD, an app you want
to package and distribute , or create your own linux distro. Give SUSE
Studio a try. www.susestudio.com.

Am willing to spend some time doing whatever in between the time I'm
doing whatever at the conference.
You can get a idea of my OpenSuSE background, my username in the
OpenSuSE Forums is tsu2.
Also, any other unpublished SuSE get-togethers?

G'day,
here's the poster we threw together for Jos yesterday, and thanks to
the folks who helped with this. It's pretty rough, lots of things
could be improved but with just a few hours from concept to completion
I'm pretty happy. It's the first time I've really used Scribus too. So
this needs a bit of polishing before it is included in our resources.
(improve text and design, fix alignment. Maybe lose some of the box
borders for a cleaner look. That sort of thing.)
This one was to be printed black and white, but I was thinking, if it
was printed in color, some sort of blue ice theme would be fun, to
play on the 'cool' idea.
By the way Scribus is a bloody excellent program, if you haven't tried
it do have a go. It's surprisingly intuitive, at first I had to hunt
around the menus to find the attribute I wanted to edit but it didn't
take long to start making sense.
If you are using Scribus, stick with the current versio n for now
(3.3.? I think rather than the 3.9 version which is not backwards
compatible).
cheers
Helen
LinuxFest Northwest, Northwest USA's 'grass roots' Linux event, is
scheduled for April 30 & May 1st, 2011. Is it anticipated that 11.4
media will be available by then?
If not, will it be possible to get ISOs for the disc, to reproduce
locally? The combined Live Gnome / Live KDE / Installer disc is a
*huge* draw.

Hello mates,
YAGLB (http://www.yaglb.com) is one of the most high traffic Linux Blogs.
The name is close to openSUSE since it means Yet Another Greek Linux
Blog (as we say yast).
I wrote a short article in Greek about openSUSE connect. Check it out.

Hi all,
Besides the "what's cool in openSUSE" I also worked on the arguments on our
talking page:
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Talking_points#Why_openSUSE
Have a look, add, fix, comment please!!!
We should actively point our ambassadors to this and our other resources
there! I think it'd be great if, once we are happy with the arguments there,
we create some kind of PDF out of it to give to our ambassadors for easy
reference at conferences.
What'd ya'all think?
Cheers,
Jos
Hi guys and gals,
I just wanted to drop by to share some A4-sized PDF posters that I've
made. They highlight some of the nice things that are part of the
openSUSE experience and are targeting experienced computer users. I'm
not a graphic designer nor a marketer, but I hope that they're useful.
Click the links below to view an online preview of each ad. The
preview doesn't seem to support the Bitstream Vera font, so it's not
entirely accurate. Hopefully the font renders correctly in your PDF
reader. The files are quite large, but I wanted to include
high-quality images so that you can zoom in to at least 300% before
the images start getting blurry.
-- Configure your updater to stick with stable software or update to
newer but less tested versions --
This one plays on the fact that openSUSE offers both "conservative"
repositories that will keep you stable and "progressive" repositories
that keep you up-to-date with the latest releases that may not have
been tested thoroughly.

-- Get help from the active openSUSE community --
Unlike Windows, openSUSE offers a nice official place where people can
go and ask questions about problems they're experiencing. (I'm not
saying that there aren't any good unofficial Windows forums out there
though!)

I wonder if the present 11.4 artwork is the final one?
Just get a look at the two photos (I hope they will go through) and
say wich one is 11.4 and wich a corrupt screen?
first time (yesterday) I installed 11.4 I thought the monitor
frequency was bad :-!
do we have to ask such questions for 8 month??
