Hi all,
There was a recent post on reddit
(https://old.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/m1xl56/is_opensuse_leap_ready_to_be…)
that made us take a look at how to present our lifecycle page
(https://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime) and info to be added to the marketing
of Leap 15.3.
There were several comments on reddit that can be summarized as there is
a lack of clear information on how long the lifecycle of Leap 15.x will
be going forward. When the info on https://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime was
originally written, there was some clarity on major versions lasting a
minimum of 36 months. We know Leap 42 and 15 exceeded that lifecycle. It
looks like we're at a point where we evolved and need to provide a bit
more clarity for people based on the reddit comments
I propose we change the lifecycle page to include the following
sentences and include the info in the marketing of Leap 15.3 and beyond
(for the foreseeable future):
Leap *Major Release* (15.x) extends maintenance and support until a
successor.
At present, a successor has not been declared; Leap 15's lifecycle fully
aligns with SUSE Linux Enterprise.
There is a projection as of March 2021 that Leap 15 will extend to Leap
15.5.
Both major versions of Leap 42 and 15 were supported more than 36 months.
Any thoughts, changes, removals or additions to the above sentences.

Hi all,
I want to give a bit of feedback from out marketing meeting we had
tonight. We worked on the flyer and updated the counter to reflect the
countdown.
We could use help from the community on the updating screenshots for
openSUSE Leap 15.3 for the various desktop environments and open source
tools. Please upload your screenshots to
https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:15.3/Screenshots
We are also kicking around an idea about how we can have some sort of
social media badge, image or overlay,so that people can change their
profile picture to help raise awareness about the release of openSUSE
Leap 15.3. Ideas are welcome, so please reply to this if you have any
thoughts.
Please use hashtags#openSUSE #Leap153 when posting social media so we
can do some follow-up statistics on the hashtags.
Music lovers. The topic of a podcast has been brought up over the years.
Some people might want to do a local podcast as it has more reach in the
language. We think it would be a good idea to have the sounds of the
podcasts be similar to that the intro and outro music is branded. If
you are interested in this, please let us know. If people would be
interested in coming together as a team to develop this idea or a
podcast, please reply to this email.
Our next marketing meeting will be May 12 at 18:00 UTC in the bar at

Hi all,
We will have a marketing meeting tonight (April 28) at 18:00 UTC on
https://meet.opensuse.org/153marketing
The meeting later today will focus on a few things like screenshots,
timeline for release and an open discussion on other things we can do to
help promote the release.
We've been working on the release announcement for a while and have
finally completed it. The release announcement for openSUSE Leap 15.3 is
ready for translation. We have about 5 weeks until the release.
It would be highly appreciated if you could help to translate the
release announcement to your native language and help promote the news
of that release. Currently the release is only in English. Please link
your translated version to the top and include your ISO 639-1 Code
language code (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_639-1_codes) or
the language for those contributing to
https://news.opensuse.org/2021/03/10/a-message-to-the-opensuse-community/
I have placed the release announcement on the openSUSE wiki at
https://en.opensuse.org/Release_announcement_15.3. This is the single
point from where I will take all the links of the translated versions.
Please remember to link your translated version to your ISO 639-1 Code
on https://en.opensuse.org/Release_announcement_15.3
We have social posts that can be translated at
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Social_media_launch_plan. For people
running an openSUSE social media page who would like to post the
content, please mark down the name for the person who will be
responsible for posting the content on the wiki.

Hi all,
I wanted to send everyone an update from the marketing meeting we had
yesterday. We finalized the release announcement
(https://en.opensuse.org/Release_announcement_15.3
<https://etherpad.opensuse.org/p/153release>) last night so the next
step will be to send it off for translations, which should give the
community a good amount of time to translate it. I want to send it out
with an updated version of the social media messages on
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Social_media_launch_plan, which will
also need translations and people to post the messages on the local
language social media pages.
We will have another marketing meeting on April 28 at 18:00 UTC on
https://meet.opensuse.org/153marketing The plan for that meeting will
focus a bit on brainstorming, the imagery that goes along with the
release and whatever gets threaded here before the next meeting.

Hi all,
I just wanted to send out an update of the meeting we had yesterday
about the openSUSE Conference. Have have listed the bullets of what was
discussed below. To summaries some of the key takeaways from the
meeting. We will be doing meeting every Tuesday at 18:00 UTC. The
meetings will take place in https://meet.opensuse.org/bar as recommended
by those attending. While doing a live meeting, we will post topics and
updates to the #project chat on openSUSE Discord. I will also continue
to post the meeting notes on the mailing list for the community to read
if they don't attend the planning meetings for oSC21. We believe the
best way to do the conference is to have pre-recorded talks during the
event and have the speaker present for a live Q&A session after their
talk. We will have to figure out how to do this There also an option for
a live workgroup via Big Blue Button in the tool venueless that we will
be using. We hoping to get some volunteers to help with the conference
planning, so please email me if you are willing to assist. Anybody with
OBS (broadcast software) experience who are willing to help, please
contact me.
If you haven't submitted a talk yet, please do so by logging into
https://events.opensuse.org/ and submit proposal.
