Hi all,
As we're thinking about ways to promote openSUSE, I'd recommend taking a
look at this post by Seth Godin:
http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2008/12/what-is-viral-m.html
Any thoughts along those lines would be appreciated.
One thing I'm thinking about for a giveaway at shows next year would be,
instead of just stickers and so forth, something useful -- like a
Zypper, or Bash, or Vim reference card with the openSUSE logo.
Thoughts?
Best,
Zonker

Hi @all!
I think we should delay this issue for some hours and let the new chinese
and indian translation get at least partly done. There's work in progress.
German ans Spanish are also delayed.
Best,
Jan-Simon

Could all editors/translators please reply with their timezone and/or difference in hours to utc ?
Some small statistics to get timings worked out ;) .
If you have some time, drop in #opensuse-newsletter on irc.freenode.net .
We'll meet today at 20:00 UTC [1] .
Best regards,
Jan-Simon
P.S.: My timezone is Europe/Berlin, UTC+1 (winter/dst)

Hello fellow SUSE users:
I had a little ad/poster/flier, whatever you want to call it, that I
made in The Gimp. Figured I'd link to it in here, and you can spread it
as you wish.

Hi @all!
I just tried aspell as spellchecker for the en.txt and want to share my experiences in a step-by-step howto:
1st check if aspell is installed for your language:
zypper se aspell
If needed, install additional packages like so:
zypper in aspell-id aspell-pt_BR
Assuming your translated text is in a file called mytranslation.txt, you can start
the spellchecker like this:
aspell --encoding=utf-8 -l pt_BR -c mytranslation.txt
Attention! It will edit the original file and save a backup in mytranslation.txt.bak .
Have phun!

We just tried editing issue 52 using gobby. Its quite good and i've a testing server running.
You can install gobby on recents versions of opensuse by
zypper install gobby
The server-name, port and session-password can be obtained either via mail (dl9pf(a)gmx.de) or
on opensuse-newsletter @ irc.freenode.net from Sascha or me .

Hi @all!
Merry Christmas! As we have holidays now, i'd like to try the schedule proposed by Zonker:
Editing until saturday, translation until monday night and release on tuesday.
That way we shoud get more time for translation and possibly a higher coverage.
We did prepare also a "Best of newsletter 2008" this time, so stay tuned.
You'll get usual "ready-mail" on Saturday.
We got some new translators and will hopefully be able to have new languages ready
for issue 52.
Have some nice holidays!
Best regards,
Jan-Simon

Hi,
1. Today I add the community repositories for openSUSE-Edu and find
that it still ask me the EULA (agree or disagree). Is this something
different with openSUSE or is this about forgot to updating with the
upstream.
2. Software search (http://software.opensuse.org/search) is my fav.
With 11.1 release, it seems that default openSUSE on software search
still 11.0. I think it would be better to change to latest version as
default search.
